My guess with no stamping of any kind it's probably a replacement blade. The sanding of the bolsters probably removed rust to get to a fairly clean level of steel.

I agree Ron and Steve.  That blade does not look like the blade on my fish knives.

Hmmmm--I am not so sure- Found a similar photo of an Ulster toothpick from a reputable knife site- except for the number of pins it looks very close- Also Ulster-Schrade used an SS tang stamp at one time-Possibly this is a variation??

That's a good find John. And that might explain why the seller mentioned that as well. I still have a problem though, it should show 2 SS I Only see 1. Unless I am missing seeing a matching tang, it must be worn or possibly sanded off in the cleaning.

Looking at the mark side tang of the main blade it looks like the tang stamp has been removed. With no other mark to identify it, I would suspect it is an undesirable import and stay away from it. That is just what I would do.

I am not going to bid on it.  Another thing about it that doesn't look right to me is that the condition of the bolsters does not match the condition of the blades.

Sir;  I ooked at the fish knife and while I can't be positive I am confident that the knife is Not an Ulster.Ulster was sold in 1941 and the quality deterioated a lot I have never seen an Ulster that lacked a tang stamp. The blade could have been etched but I doubt it.  It looks like an Imperial to me.best regards Carson Klitz

The S was used by Sam Harris Cutlery making knives on a jobber basis in Naomi , Mo. during the the last century 

the S at one time was Sammual Knife Co. but latter changed to avoid infringement laws.

during the late 40's it was sold with rights to Cammilus and then later traded among the Egypt officials of 

antiquities. Later on changed to read "not true" as this is all Bull because I dont know?
