The time has come to start the discussion on the 2014 iKC knife.  

I would again like to shoot for August/Sept delivery date.  Something to remember while we talk about this is that a short run of only 50 or so knives means we need to tie in with a maker that is already running a knife and tweak that one to make it our own.  The reason for this is most SFO's require a minimum order of 250 or more.  Also I would like to keep it less than $125.00 delivered to you.  I have some eyes checking out whats available at a factory or two but always love to hear your ideas.  Remember, this is YOUR knife

Jan, what you say perfectly reflects my experiences with A.G.R. and their knives, though at first sight I was a little skeptical about the quality of knives completely or partly made in China - I was wrong. Yes, A.G. doesn't only precisely tell where each of their knives comes from : one can be sure to get a first class product (I purchased maybe 10 to 12 knives from them, mostly lockbacks).

I really like the 4 1/8 Trapper knife. With any type of handle materials especially burlwood or Stag.Just a curious question but does iKC have a logo ? or something that is recognizable enough to be made for a knife handle? As a new member I probably sound way off on these Ideas but you asked so I answered. I would also like to agree with the other gentlemen about the USA made knife. I believe we should really be promoting American made products all the way around 

Well, Kevin, I understand where you're coming from. But as someone living in Europe my view differes somewhat on the whole "buy american" thing.

Buying american for me is not much different from buying Chinese, Swiss, Italian etc It's all made abroad and as long as the quality, the company and the price are in order...I really couldn't care less about the country of origin.

Ivars, I'll have to check about that IP adress thing. I don't believe I've heard of them banning certain IP adresses. But it might be possible.

not me, if its not german or american steel..forget it! very few japan steels will pass, but, very few, most of the old steel mined in japan is long gone!

In my book Japan produces better cutlery steels than the US do...as does Austria (Böhler Steel) and Sweden (Sandvik Steel).

Steels like M390, N690,14C27, VG-10, White paper steel, Blue paper steel, AEB-L, Cowry-X, Cowry-Y, ZDP189 etc etc all hold their own against US steels easily.

I'm sorry Jeff, iron is mined and steel is made.

sorry, i should have said forged, and as far as a 125 dollar knife goes, i havnt see a chinese made knife  yet !and you have to get the iron  to make the steel!

Ok, so we all understand that, LOL.  Here is a proposal we have had.  No cost of $ has happened and we are looking to see if we can reach the 50 goal with a production number 

D-2 Tool steel blades
Nickel silver bolsters
Tang stamped Queen Cutlery trade mark, Titusville, PA, PH-D2
Measures 3 1/2 inches closed

no blade etch, no shield.  Laser etched bone (color in pic)

same embossed liners as last years knife

Remember the picture is pretend because the knife does not exist

Jan really liking that! Liking the big iKC and the handle material. If this is our pick I'm in!!

Jan - I like this knife. Is it technically a Barlow or a Jack? Perfection with this frame and blade combo would be a more traditional, longer Barlow bolster with the ikc engraved on it, and winterbottom bone handles. Not sure I'm seeing $125 here - if it had ATS-34 blades, it would be a "Slam Dunk". Thanks for all your hard work on this. JGS

Honestly I do not know what this would price out at yet

This was just a thought the presented today and are trying to work up for me.  It may fall more into a Jack category but it is sort of a cross
