yes sure.. a beautiful knife but if you get a lousy photographer, you won't be able to bring out the glory of the knife or do the knife its justice.

Nice pictures folks! 

If you are going to shoot the knives at an angle, you have to stop down (increase the aperture number, thus reducing it's size)  to get better depth of field so that one end or the other of the knife is not out of focus - 

I use a tripod, small aperture and relatively long exposure times to get better depth of field. 

To avoid overexposed hot-spots, and blown out reflections, use a piece of cardboard covered with black cloth (or something black...) and hold it above the shot, and while looking through the viewfinder, move the black "reflector" around over the shot until it is "covering" the reflection area - that will bring out the highlights in damascus or subtle hamons etc. 

I used the black reflection diffuser to take this shot - there are still some hot spots - not the best shot, but the point is that I wanted to capture the forge-weld lines on the blade and they were being blown out due to the tons of light I was pouring on the shot - so out came the reflection diffuser - 

As you can tell, no expert here at all - just finding out stuff as I go -

I like the contrast in color on that Moon, although it does slightly take away from the knife ..just sayin!
