The Double Take.

Here is a series of Rough Rider knives I at first found of interest due to their novelty, but then discovered them to be high-quality, well-made, and usable pocket knives living up to Rough Rider's reputation for a quality product. They are available at SMKW, and also on the bay.

Here is my Double Take Yellow Synthetic Trapper, and my Double Take Tobacco Bone Muskrat. Don't be fooled, these are usable, well-built knives, not just a "novelty". For around $15 they are good, inexpensive conversation starters, fascinating to most who have never seen one. I carry both of mine at once in a dual WWII canvas 30 cal ammo pouch, and I hardly notice them. Because of the way they are built, you can actually apply quite a bit more pressure and down force to the blade due to the way they fit in your hand. I like the Muskrat the best, I just like it's profile and it's comfortable feeling in the hand.

Give one a try, I hear they may be discontinued, so better do so quick if you're interested. For around $15, (or less), they are worth a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. They also come in a Canoe frame with both bone and synthetic handles.

Show 'em if you got 'em!

I don't have one yet but need to order one.  Every Rough Rider collection ought to have at least one, at least for the novelty.

And that's what's so cool about these knives, they have not only novelty, but also utility going for them and are actually usable. If you get one post a photo here.

Dont have one either Syd, I was always afraid I would lose a finger!

A definite possibility I assure you. Getting all the blades open for photos is kinda tricky, it would be easy to slice up the back of a finger if not done carefully, and like all RR knives the blades are razor sharp ta boot!

Here is how I carry my Double Takes. It fits nicely against my hip, isn't too heavy. I find that these knives aren't merely "novelties"; they are in my opinion eminently usable, and useful knives.

Thats a great way to carry them! Wow how hard was that to find?

Found it at our local annual Community Yard Sale last month, paid .50 for it. Also got a 60's Camillus Marlin Spike, and two Nepali Khukri fixed blades that day at other sales. There were & dozens dozens of individual yard sales going on all over town that day, (and oh yeah, found a Taylor Schrade 4" folder too).

It was a good week, I found a New York Knife Co, Hammer Brand per 1931 pen knife the next day at the local swap....paid just over $3 for that one.

If you think four blades are bad, try six.  One of my Rifleman Series Rough Riders is a six blade stockman.  When I was opening all six blades to take a pic, I cut myself with three blades of that knife at the same time!  I bet even Josh Hill of Knives Live TV fame never accomplished that!  LOL

Ouch. They are like some kind of evil cactus in a way, I guess no matter how you hold them they will manage to get ya when ya ain't lookin'. I suppose if you only opened one blade at a time you'd be fine....but of course that wouldn't be any fun would it? Us boys just gotta play with our toys, it's kind of a rule.

Have any photos of it? (the knife that is, not your butchered hand)
