Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I have been listening to a lot of the economists, even those from the big banks like JP Morgan, Fidelity, Chase, and those not related to the big banks. And all are saying things are about to get bad. Some are saying to hold cash, in hand, not in the banks. Stocks are going to take a huge hit, much worse than the 2008/09 down turn we had. There is a lot more to it than just this, a lot more, and Sept/Oct seems to be the time most are talking about.

So for those who follow this, do you have your own plans for wealth protection? I have been buying a little silver, and have plans for buying as much as I can if things start to take a turn for the worse.

Now that our bank deposits are no longer considered as a deposit, but as a investment, it could spell trouble if the banks get into trouble as they did in 2008/09 and had to have the Fed bail them out. The Fed can't do it again, so they may turn to our money to get themselves out of trouble.

Then again, cash may be worthless...

I've opted to stop listening to the experts, pray harder, tune out the news and become a better angler and rely on forms of transportation that don't require gas.

I figure the experts are more interested in acquiring my wealth than actually helping me keep my mine. Thus if one them is screaming "buy gold" then he is getting paid to scream "buy gold".  And the government would love you to hoard money as this takes money out of circulation which increases the value of printed money.  Why do you think they make all those collector quarters, nickels, and pennies.  Every time someone puts a coin  in a display case instead of in circulation the government makes money!

There is actually very little I can do to stop a government melt down or a zombie apocalypse and when I start thinking of thing such as necessary medication my wife and I have to take and what to do with the pets, and so on,  I tend to plan for short term disasters and not worry about a melt down of the economy.  I've already assumed my retirement plan and social security if a myth so I don't count on it being there. In short I'm too busy trying to survive the present to worry about surviving a future I cannot control.

Ron this is a good point and something to ponder on.  Thanks for sharing this information.  I too would like to hear from others on this.

Ron,

With a health issue I don't know will ever go away and my primary career choice being a banker, we made some definite changes in the last 6 months.  Retiring 10 years earlier than we had planned for me, getting out of the city environment and into a home we owned outright.  It has certainly changed our financial situation, our health coverage situation and made things tighter all over but it has given us the freedom to not worry as much over this.  They have been saying for a year that this one will be worse for us, the middle class folks.  The big banks have had to put so much in reserve that some will survive but they will do nothing to help you and I survive it.

We set ourselves up to be able to heat with wood from our property, grow food, hunt and fish right here if need be.  I will tell you it is not for everyone, many folks think we have lost our minds LOL.  But on the days I could not go to a regular job if I had too, it is a different piece of mind.  If the economy takes a downturn it will effect us, just not as much as it would have.
