According to this link, there are 12,700,000 US hunters. The Chinese military is 2,333,000. The US military is 1,400,000.

Here is the article.
Manasquan, NJ –-(Ammoland.com)- Fall hunting season is almost here and a fun annual topic of discussion around the campfires is always how large the U.S. population of hunters is?
And how does the number of U.S. hunters stack up against the largest standing armies in the world?
Much to the shagrin of anti-hunting forces across the USA, hunting numbers have remained steady over the last decade, even growing as more and more women get behind the gun and out in the field.
Check out our newest info-graphic on how American hunting forces stack up in size against the largest standing armies in the world.
Based on feedback, we have also included USA’s own standing army, and yeah we know there may be overlap between those two points of data, as a lot of our brave military is also active hunters, but this is fun facts, not life and death math.
Like our Largest Standing Army graphic? Your welcome to share it on your own websites, blogs and social media. We know it will get the freedom hating pacifist worked up and hey, isn’t that the point.

thankyou Charles, I have heard this many times but love to see it here...You CANNOT INVADE THE US MAINLAND ..there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass ! how true ! love it Charles ! Thanks again !
I like that statement too. The article says it was falsely attributed to Admiral Yamamoto. I wonder who did say it first? The Japanese would never have been able to successfully invade the US mainland. Even though our army was small and poorly equipped at the beginning of the war, our hunters weren't! It would have been the same type of guerrilla fighting that helped a lot in defeating the British in the Revolutionary War. One of the major battles of that war, the Battle of King's Mountain, was fought without any regular army on our side. It was all militia units, one of which was commanded by my gggggGrandfather. Some say it was the turning point of the war.

I found this so interesting I had to go out and take a look at some things.
Annual report of the Chief of the Militia Bureau
As Jeff Said
That will be interesting to find out. militias have always been a big part of any war. They used to be used to control Government..and win wars. Now it is a bad word !
And, my goodness, the government has been debating the second amendment since 1825
in 1825, by that of William Rawle in his landmark text, A View of t...
long before the concept of incorporation was formally recognized by the courts, or Congress drafted the Fourteenth Amendment, contended that citizens could appeal to the Second Amendment should either the state or federal government attempt to disarm them.
Even though I am 69, I still am an active hunter and I can still shoot. (Last deer season I killed a deer at 150 yards with my muzzleloader and I can do better than that with my .30-06.)
So add two more to the militia!

Medical issues prevent me from being on the "Active Hunter" list, but I can still shoot.
Add one more to the militia.
