Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Tobias has been running some fishing polls and it has gotten me interested in the members hunting habits or lack thereof.  So I have decided to run some hunting polls.  This first one will be very simple.

Question 1:  Do you hunt?

Question 2:  If the answer to Question 1 is no (and you don't mind telling), why not?

(There is no right or wrong answer to this question.  The aim here is not to establish whether hunting is right or wrong.  This is not meant to be an argumentative discussion.   The reason might simply be you don't have the opportunity.  Maybe your health will no longer permit it.  Maybe you just can't kill an animal.  Whatever the answer is, it is perfectly legitimate and reasonable for you.)

BTW, since this a sensitive subject to some, I will delete any comments which I feel are derogatory to someone else.

D ale, I love that!  My daughter says that if anyone would actually do that, it would be me!  LOL

To funny

No, 1 year in the bush (Vietnam 1970-71) took alot out of me, couldn't kill a thing unless it was a snake/spider/bad guy.

Craig,

My father came home from Korea the same way.  Never hunted again even though he had grown up hunting for food

Hmm,   For those who don't hunt.

Do you fish?

Do you bird watch?

Do you "photo" hunt -- as in do wildlife photography.

I would be interested in the answers to those questions too.

No I do not hunt. Never had a need nor interest to do so. Also I can travel 50 miles in any direction and still be in a dense urban area. I've fished once and caught nothing but sand sharks!?! Outdoors I've hiked, rock climbed, rappelled (don't do the repelling anymore though). Naturally I collect knives :)

Sounds like you have some nice outdoor activities!

I am fortunate to be able to hunt five miles from my house.  A friend at church lets me hunt on his farm.  I live in a small town, about 18,000.  I guess hunting, shooting, guns is in my blood.  I grew up on a farm in  a very rural area of SE Missouri.  We were related to just about everybody around us.  I had free rein over probably a couple of thousand acres.  My favorite pastime was to grab the .22 rifle or shotgun and wander the fields and woods and explore.  And if I shot a couple of squirrels or rabbits or quail, so much the better.  They tasted good!  One thing I didn't do then was deer hunt.  There just weren't that many deer around then.  We seldom ever saw one.  Now that area is full of deer.  (Thanks to hunters!)

And as far as guns and shooting in my blood, one of my ancestors, Col. Frederick Hambright, was a commander of a militia unit before and during the revolutionary war.  Another of my ancestors, John Knowles, was born in Ireland.  He fought in an Irish rebellion and the British were going to hang him.  He got away, got over here, and then fought in our revolution.  He was then either the first sheriff or a deputy to the first sheriff of White County, Tennessee.  And then there is Cousin Wes, the gunfighter John Wesley Hardin!
