Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Please any help that you can give on this knife.  I have finally finished cataloguing all of the knives.  I will contact IKC and see if there is a way to put all the knives on the site but for right now, I have posted pictures on a "closed to public" Facebook Page, called CEK Vintage Knives.

Any help that you can give on identifying these knives, tracing a history, and value or worth. I would be most appreciative.

I was talking to a friend about how great everyone on this site has been to me and I have invited him to join as well as my son-in-law and others.  I appreciate you all so much.

Mary

This site will allow you to look at all the pictures plus I grouped them by maker and knife.

Let me know what you think and any information you might have. If you are interested in purchasing a knife, please just let me know.

Mary,

We are pleased to be what help we can be.  I have seen many of the folks here stepping up to share what info they can.  I am grateful you found us.  At least I can be assured you will get quality information and reasonable offers.

You know that I am not a knife collector.  Just a widow of one.  He loved his knives and the men and women that made them.  These past few weeks connected to IKC was a perfect way for me to honor him.  For those who have found knives to purchase -- I am thrilled because it is a form of adoption for me.  I'm sending the knife from a home where it was loved to another home where it will be loved again.  Knife makers and collectors are a very unique set of individuals and I am proud to be part of this site.  I contacted a knife maker a few days ago (I know have personally talked to 4) and when I described the knife, he said: "I remember our husband, he was a great talker".  That connection meant so much to me -- and yes, he was a great talker!  Then I contact Mr. Holder and found that we lived very near one another while in high school. He went to school with my brother and remembered him. Small world.

I still will never be a collector of knives but I will always honor this group with my appreciation.  Once my life picks up and moves into another direction, I will always remember the people here who were kind and welcoming, who helped me and who really cared about the knives that I brought to the group.

Thank you to all.  Those of you I have corresponded with and those who have taken the time to treat me warmly and genuinely, I will always count you as friends.

Mary-First off-Corbet Sigman (C.R.) was a great knife maker who made high quality knives for over 30 years who passed away in 2006. He made 3 grades of knives, all of which are superb. He just felt that he needed to make some knives at a more affordable price for the everyday hunter. Here they are from most expensive to least.

1-Collector grade   2-Utility Hunter ( a slight upgrade with a nickel silver guard and nicer handle material)    3-Working Hunter (sold with or without a brass guard)

Your knife is a Working Hunter made with HCTS ( high carbon tool steel) as marked on the blade stamp. These are expertly ground, wicked sharp, and highly polished blades. The knife was not meant to be fancy, just a great user knife.that was affordable. I would estimate the value of yours at $150-$275 range. This is still a very desirable knife from a great maker.
