I am guessing this is the maker, and the other symbols on the handle of your knife might be a number. With earlier/later versions the pin configurations may have changed,..and on size of knife. Clean that rust off, use some food grade oil and a super fine steel wool to tidy it up, and a nice edge, and it should be all good to go again. Still has some years left in it!

I'm seeing HG on the handle, so it looks to me like it's a Dexter Hollow Ground​ Boning Knife.

Definitely a keeper. Like Manx said, clean it up and put it to use.

thanks J.J.Smith - I think you found the right one!  Oh heck yes its a keeper because its the only thing I have from my grandma beside her glasses. She died about 4 years after my mom got the knife - she died about 1957. So its very sentimental to me.  But the facts mean so much more to its importance too.

Like yours .. they all have family history.

For me .. ea use elicits memories .. fond memories !!!

Yup .. I'd definitely clean it up & put it to use.
