Case XX U.S.A. 62131 - 1965-69

Had been looking for an older Case Canoe with a single spring. Found this one. This is a great pattern. Nice size & weight. Feels good in hand & pocket. Anyone know what color handles these are? Not familiar with Case's colors back then.

Thank you,

Very nice Tim!

The handles were Brown Bone, but, a lot of them at that time came out more reddish-brown. So collectors started, many years ago, calling them "Red Bone", So you have a  "Red Bone" Canoe!

Thank you Craig.

I have my grandpa's 1959-61 Case Stockman, but its definitely brown. This color was throwing me off. I have heard of the Red Bone, but thought they might be more red.

In 45+ years of collecting I've seen them all shades. Some more brown, some more red. But yours is definitely an old original Red Bone. To  some collectors, if they have one and it has the slightest hint of reddish brown they call it a "Red Bone". Some old timers said it happened when the old brown stain they used started to get old it would turn a reddish color. The old stain they used way back when was actually toxic and unstable! Then laws changed and toxic stains weren't allowed to be used. That's why the old red bone is hard to reproduce and is so coveted by collectors today.

You have a nice one there......collect it or use it......but most of all, enjoy the heck out of it!

Wow, that's some great info. Really appreciate the knowledge here. I will definitely use it, and enjoy it.

Thank you again for your help.
