I am familiar with Aurum's etchings on similar looking knives (presumably made by Schrade) but have never seen another one etched like this one and can find no information on this particular etching. Can anyone help me with information? Thanks

Yes these knives were made by Schrade and the etchings done by AURUM in the mid 1970's, AURUM is now owned by Buck Knives.

There is no repository of the different etchings. On the Schrade knife, the NRA is the most common followed closely by Sam Colt. There are a few other variations, Buffalo Bill, Daniel Boone, Monarch of the Plains (like backside of NRA knife), Geo. A Custer, American Sportsman (Elk Scene), WWII battle scene, Mountain Man (my avatar on this site), that is the ones I know about. I am sure there are others (lncluding yours) out there that are floating around. Schrade sent blade blanks to Aurum and they were assembles after etching at the Schrade factory. There were typically special order knives and the info on them is scarce. I have been building a data base of these for some time for my own reference. Always interesting to see what is out there.
