Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I need a little help. Among my Schrade keepers I have a 75th Anniversary 7-OT. There's no evidence that it has ever been used, abused, or carried. At some point the 7-OT was stored in its sheath but the sheath has not been worn on a belt.

The curious thing is that the sheath is oiled. I was positive I read somewhere that the first few of these knives went out with the sheath already oiled at the factory. However, I cannot find any post about that online despite considerable google mining. If you can point me to any reference about it that would make me very happy.

Thank you.

Are you trying to establish if your's was one of the first issued, and if so, were your the original buyer?

Thank you for your reply.

Not really. I'm trying to complete the story for that version of the 7-OT. I bought it online from the well-known auction site in 2013.

I believe I recall Codger mentioning the factory oiled sheath but I cannot find the reference or any follow-up.

I have spent hours (happily) going through many many forum posts (including the 2 mentioned by John) gathering the history of the 7OTs and LB7s I have. I've exhausted my search abilities to find posts about the sheath specifically. I decided to ask here first for help. My fingers are crossed!

I just read through Codgers history of the 7OT and found no mention of an oiled sheath. I'll see if I can get ahold of him later today and see if he remembers any mention of an oiled sheath. Is this the only Schrade you are researching?

Thank you, Doug, that's kind of you to help me.

I have 16 Schrades and 2 Schrade made Buck 301s. I have all the research I need for the others - the searching and sorting the silly from the useful has been great fun.

My 1st Schrade purchase was 2 Uncle Henry 897-UH in the mid-70s. I used one of them for years and abused the hell out of it. The other was a present to my Uncle Henry. He was a Millwright at Ford and he lost it after a couple of years. He didn't know about the loss guarantee. Sigh.

I made a sheath for the 897 out of a Tandy kit meant for a fixed blade knife. (Pic attached.)

I've been a stockman pattern fan ever since - but not exclusively.

Did I write too much? :-)
