Thank you for the warm welcome.I am looking around getting used to the navigation. I am more used to Forums so my first action after saying hello will be to check out the rules.
I too, am a dog guy and have a Australian blue cattle dog and a Liver colored Labrador. Also I have a feathered side kick, a smarty pants yellow cockatiel who is a near constant companion while I am indoors.
Being an older fellow ,I naturally like folding traditional knives, but find the ones I really desire are expensive and hard to obtain.
For instance I have just won a few Case and Schrade jigged bone scale folders on Ebay and have paid $30 Au average for some poor to average condition blades.
Advertising in the local trader mags has not been successful. I think it is due to a small population density in my part of the country.
Alternate sources like thrift shops do not carry them due to legal liabilities and second hand shops seem to think any good example is coated with gold rather the rust corrosion which they normally are.
Thanks Steve, I've always been an admirer of these great tools that are so primal in concept yet been elevated to truly an art form! You guys are very welcoming.
That was a nice WELCOME note. I see you LOVE your CUTE dog. Me too. But my female tri-color 58 lb. Springer Spaniel would be very jealous.
Checking out the groups now. Interesting selection. I here mainly for the sharpening tips
Like: the best degrees to sharpen at for certain steels heat hardened by specific makers - and to see all the private knife makers I see in the huge yearly Knife annuals.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I did not get a new knife, but I will be getting a new Trail Hawk (BHK camping hatchet) in the near future.
