Is it possible to figure 1 or 2 of the "Maker's Mark". It'll make it easier.

.

I posted the pic for you. Also, in posting more, go to the 2cnd icon from the left (should label as "Image"), click on that & then drop your pic from your computer/tablet/cell.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try.

The tangstamp shows the Hunting knife tang to have been used until 1932 https://www.casexx.com/Library/TangStamp.asp

The pattern has me a bit stumped as I do not see a visible number.  Check this pattern chart https://www.casexx.com/Library/PatternNumbers.asp

another good source is the knife data base https://knifedb.com/

Looks like my kinfolks 380 from 1930s to 1950s

Jan, unfortunately I’ve gone through all the charts I’ve been able to find and there are no numbers. I’ve been told it may be a case pattern shipped to kinfolk, but there’s really no information to go by though others like it exist. You’d have to be someone who has done extensive research, and have much experience in just this early case and connecting companies identification of fixed blades. I had several conversations with someone who had collected hundreds of these early fixed blades through 60 years, and this information for certain knives are pretty much lost to time unfortunately. So far, absolute identification impossible, but a few out there can make very informative, good guesses. I’m looking for one of those such people. It was made pre recorded case making fixed blades. 1920’s is my best guess, and case didn’t record making the first until 1932. The blade design is also different from recorded designs. See the dilemma ?

Jeff, it may just have an association with kinfolk ? The best possible guess so far is a case casting sent to kinfolk ? Not an easy nut to crack identifying this one.

Don,

There is a guy that I am positive would know but he does not do a website, the only way I know to get to him is at a show.  His name is Tony Foster.  I will be at the Dalton Ga show with Bruce Voyles in a couple of weeks, Tony may attend there also.  If so I will show it to both of them

Thanks Jan. That’ll help all of us with these anomalies.
