Randy .. thanks for the response !!

I was simply curious .. I believe some folks are doing "pattern welding" more for the resultant pattern than anything else .. choosing steels that will contrast against one another .. w/ more emphasis placed o the "art" than the "usability" of the result ..

.. as opposed to choosing steels that contrast with one another .. AND .. result in a billet that can be hardened to the level required for "cutlery steel" ..

I like your approach !!
