Thanks for the  story Lars.  I'm glad we've made contact and you found the info useful.  I need to do some updating on all my pages, especially the Sailing Knives and my Rough Rider Reviews.  I'v ealso wrote an extensive amount of info on the Camp/Utility pattern knives that i need to get up but I've just not had the time!

YES!!!  That is the reason, either that or to frustrate and old southern gal LOL.  Everything on the site is set to newest first.  I cannot explain it, I cant seem to fix it and our provider says "but your set to newest first ".  Yep, they are very helpful

Lars. My Ontario M# has a 1095 Carbon Steel Parkerized blade.  The original M3s were also 1095 Carbon steel.  Most were either blued or Parkerized.

Or if you can get hold of the book:  Knives of the United States military: World War II, by Mike Silvey, he has a great section on the M-3.   Wikipedia also gives good info.

As far as I know, the only company currenlty making it in 1095 Carbon steel is Ontario.  It is also USA made.  Bokers in made in China using SK-5.  Soemother company is making it in 440 Stainless.

The Sheath that Ontario sheath is not period correct.  You would need to pick up an M-8 or M8a1 scabbard.  Or if you can find a copy of the M6 leather scabbard that would be best.   Leather repros are out there but they are less than perfect.  You really need to find a place where you can inspect the sheath before buying it.  Some are flat out awful!

You can get an Ontario for around $58 on Amazon.   Prices are similar to that on eBay.  Most decent Army Navy Stores will also carry it.

Hi Lars, the Camillus Marlin Spike on my page was made under contract for British and Canadian Forces.  It is actually patterned after the 6353-1905 three piece clasp knife adopted by the British Ministry of Defense in 1905. The knives were primarily made in Great Britain and Commonwealth Nations.  With the onset of World War I, demand for the knife outstripped production capabilities in Britain and her Commonwealth allies. Camillus stepped in and began producing knives for the Britain and Canada. The knives were issued to all forces, land,sea, and air. It is believed tha tthese clasp knives were the first government contract offered to Camillus.

No problem! I'm glad I was able to help. The cool thing about the Themes is that if you do spend some time designing a custom theme, and then decide you wish to change it at some time in the future, it will always be saved. So if you do change it and wish to go back and use it again at a later date it will still be there.

I hope that made sense? But aside from the Themes you can tweak the colors and just about everything else, too! Just get in there and pay around. That's what I use to do. In other words...have fun!

Hi, Lars!

The software that iKC uses allows us to customize our own page pretty much anyway we want it to look. I use to spend more time customizing and tweaking every little detail on "My Page," but became discouraged at doing so because of things that were beyond my control that would disrupt what I had done. That's a story for another day, though.

Go to your page (MY Page) and look on the left hand column under your name and where you're from and you will see a prompt that says, "Customize My Page." Click on that and you will enter the "Design Studio." That's where the magic happens! Once in there you will find different themes as well as options that permit you to fix your page just about any way that suits you.

It's been a while since I've changed anything and my brain doesn't really work the way it used to. So I can't explain much more than I already have as far as the media player goes. What I will do is encourage you to jump in there and play around. Don't worry, you can't break anything, and regardless of what you do you can always just cancel it and everything goes back to the way it was before.

So, have it it my friend. I hope you get the result you're looking for.
