I know, I know .... I told myself I was done adding more.  After all, I had 49 ponies in the stable.  Then saw one of these available and ... since it is that spooky month, with Halloween right around the corner, figured one more couldn’t hurt.  Especially, since I got it for less than they were retailing for in 2019.  So, welcome number 50 (a nice round number).  2019 spider web SFO in grey bone.  A really nice grey bone, I might add!

I just don't know!  Maybe I am just getting to old and confused.  Maybe I am just too busy.  Maybe I have too many darn knives (nah!).  Or ... maybe a combination of these reasons.  But, I've had this 2021 vintage flag color washed bone seahorse for some time now.  I gave it a good sharpening right after I got it and put it in the corral with the other ponies.  I guess I totally forgot about it and never got around to taking pics!!!  Oh well, here she is.  Better late than never.

Something’s gotta give. Just added yet another seahorse to the collection … bringing the total to 52. If that weren’t bad enough, if I add up all of my 3 blade whittlers … the number jumps to 65! Yikes! Anyway, this one definitely has a lot of wow factor. Started out in life as a 2008 stag model with Devin Thomas raindrop pattern Damascus blades. Josh Kidd (Wild Horse Customs) did his magic with blue cross-cut mammoth ivory covers and embellished bolsters, liners and springs. Probably ranks pretty close to the top of my favorites list. If you look closely, however, one caught my immediately. I have never seen a seahorse with such a wide and clean main blade swedge like this one has. I have checked all of my other ponies and can’t find another (even another Damascus) that has a similar swedge. And … to add to my amazement, this is one of the very few that left the factory with nearly perfect edges. Very sharp with absolutely no burrs. I didn’t even bother to resharpen it. I checked with Josh and he did nothing to the blades, except add his mark.  So, whoever was working at Case in 2008 …. kudos!!  While this one drained the ole bank account …. it sure makes me happy!!

That's pretty! Never heard of a "Crandall jig", now I know what it looks like, but of course I MUST HAVE ONE!!

I like this on Syd.  Of course, the color was just a tad brighter than I thought it would be.  But hey ... with it being "cayenne", I guess it's gotta be hot!!!

I like the lined bolsters with the big XX on it as much as the handle material/jig/color.
