Thank you for the nice welcome. I have been pleasantly surprised by how many good people I’ve met in the knife collectors world. Certainly there are a few bad actors but the vast majority have gone out of their way to help me make wise decisions as I learn up from down with this hobby! Thank again, Gene
Thank you, sir. I am actually trying to get some information on that particular knife. My late father-in-law owned it for at least 25 years and likely longer. I had someone tell me they thought it was a Solingen, but it is stamped with what appears to be REICO at base of blade. I thought it might be the REI Company, which sells camping/hiking supplies and so on. I reached out to them and they advised they could not find anything in their records, but also thought it to be a Solingen knife. Any guesses?
Thank you for your message. I'm a bit long to answer because I 've to learn how the forum works. Yes I've a komboloi in my pocket since my 20 years old (first trip in Greece 30 years ago ). I have only have traditional komboloi because I can play slow or faster. I'm not good with begleri. Have a great week end .
I've got some work-related travel coming up but hope to really dig into the IKC when I get back. Planning to meet Lars for a coffee and share some sharp notes!
Thank you, sir! It's great to be here. I plan on doing all of that. But mostly, in glad I'm not alone in this addiction. I'm on a Spyderco kick lately. Just ordered a new PM2 (satin plain blade, g10 handles). I'm thinking of doing a YouTube channel for my collection as well, if that's allowed here.

Thank you dead_left_knife_guy. I haven't worked in the Sheffield cutlery industry since 1984 but I still have a passion for Sheffield's industrial heritage. Cutlery plays a massive part in that.
I have a SP8 in my camper and two air force survivors knives. One that has never been used the other I found at work. It is the one I take on most of my outdoor activities. Here's the ones that get used a lot in the yard.
Thanks for the welcome, it's good to be here. And yes, I have seen that funny vid from the guy complaining how gec 'ruined' him. I know the feeling well. Spyderco collectors love to complain about getting skunked on a sprint run but that is nothing. At least you can buy some kind of PM2 or Shaman when you want. Try liking a knife company and NEVER being able to buy a new knife from a dealer. That is GEC world.

Thanks, I updated my profile so to be not misleading in my collector status. I am sure I will learn a lot here in the future.

In case you don't follow up on the Ash dagger thread (I was a bit wordy), here is the updated Ash Knife web site:

Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome, Dead Left!
Looks like a great place to touch down every now and then.
Maybe I can talk you out of some of that equipment you still have! :)

Thank you, but this is my first attempt at restoration. I have a couple others I am gonna be working on as well
(They're just not as cool)
But all I have used so far on that knife is heavy scotch brite and a lower setting on my dremel with a wire wheel.
I haven't begun anything on the handle yet, I'm trying to decide what I want to do to save the stacked leather if possible
Thanks for the welcoming, it's cool to be here
Thanks for the welcomen it was most welcome
