IF by some small chance you have a document, or reference for the correct colors and patterns for the various Swiss portepees that were issued, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share!
I have found references to about 11 different color/patterns (so far), and they all were for different officers, NCOs, public service branches, cantons... But I can find nothing definitive that says THIS color/pattern was used for this. Oh. I found flat and round cords for the portepees... Old style versus new style? ugh. I am so confused by all this right now.
Of course I am chasing only the Swiss portepees at the moment. I found quite a bit on German ones (they had a lot of variants too!).
Ha ha ha ha! You and me both brother!
Please don't misunderstand our comments Lino - we really do appreciate and enjoy your knives. But for Kevin and myself - we REALLY enjoy your bayonet and now your saber. He and I probably spend as much time discussing swords and bayonets as we do about knives. Kevin, however, is quite the Swiss blade (and rifle) aficionado. In fact, we were just discussing the other night Swiss and German sword and bayonet portepees.
Yesir - you have some very nice knives....and we thank you for sharing your other pieces as well.
I thought I already commented on this one... This morning before work.
For whatever reason, my comment is not here.
Sure the knife is nice... BUT. That sword! Portepee and everything! Major dose of lusting here...
Nice one Lino - great match up.
Oh Kev--------in!
