Hi Tony - Welcome to iKC!

While I am familiar with the Boker brand, I do not know what the models 82, 83, or 84 are. Wanting a good snap and no wobble tells me they're foders, so that sort of narrows it down for me. At least I'm not looking for somethng similar to the 154.

Do you have any photos you can post for examples?

Thanks - and again, we're glad you're here!

This is number 85 knife. They measure 3 1/8 inches long. The handles are black but im not sure what they are made of. I appreciate it

Ahhh!   That does indeed help!

I was finding a lot of Bokers, but nothing numbered 82, 83, or 84...  This will help refine the search a bit.  Thanks!

The #82 has a spear point #83 has a clip and #84 has a sheepsfoot blade. These were popular here back in the 70's and 8o's. Carbon blades. I used to carry one of these every day I guess I'm trying to bring back some good memories.

Oh yea - Kevin is right, this does help. I also saw lots of Bokers, but nothing mentioning 82, 83, or 84. Everything that did have a model number was either 3 or 4 digits long.

I find it interesting that you mentioned that you carried one of these and that it brings back some good memories. I too suffer from what I call "sentimental attachment". I gave away one of my prime backpack knives - a Klein Tools Sportsman hunting folder (think Buck 110) back in 1997. I regretted that ever since and have made it my mission in life to find an adquate replacement. I finally scored here in February. I was amazed at the emotions I felt when I received it. It was like reuniting with an old friend or a lost dog. I know it sounds silly to most - but I get it.

I have every confidence that with patience, you too will find your old friends. Thanks for sharing - it's always fun helping a brother out around here.

Even trying to look for images to see what a 'new' condition knife would look like is proving difficult.

I did find this on ebay of all places, but the blade doesn't to be of an expected shape.  But I cannot compare it to anything either...

One thing I was a little surprised at was that the handle was not smooth.

A couple of things I found that may (or may not) help searches...  Ebonite handle scales, and 'swell end'.  The VAST majority of the 'swell end' Bokers I found had the metal rear bolster/pommel

You're so right. Back in those days I only had one knife so I carried it everyday. I still have the first knife I ever owned from about 1964. A little John Primble congress that my dad bought me. I have my grandpas knife a Case serpentine and others that all hold a special place for me. I'm sure with more folks now looking I should find some of these. I had seen the one You saw on ebay but it has issues and no smooth handle either. There is a book on Boker knifes that shows these models. Someone on AAPK gave me the info.

Oh sweet! Those guys on AAPK are pretty cool about sharing info...particularly on folders. But then that's in the name...  :-D
