Hello,

I recently found the knife shown here.  There are no visible markings.  The guard shape appears to be distinctive.  Can anyone provide a likely manufacturer and date range?  Any information.

Hey Kevin,

I really like the shape and style of the knife.  If it were mine, I would try to ascertain what the guard and the pommel are made of.  A lot of guards and pommels were made of brass, and it looks like both the guard and pommel are of the same material.  But they also look like they are rusted.  Knowing the material will help narrow the possibilities down a little.

The blade does not look like it has been cleaned at all.  I would try to carefully clean the blade, without modifying it at all.  I would not be surprised if there are marks of some sort hidden under the rust and stuff.  Of course, I would not be surprised if there were none either...

As much as I wish it was mine,  I am very much looking forward to seeing how this project plays out.

Good Luck!

Hi Kevin.

Thanks for the input.  All components, except for the rivets/ posts are steel.

I just couldn't help myself....  I tried to find one similar to yours.  Between my own personal experience, and the search results, I can tell you a lot of knives it is not...  :P

What you have, I do not believe is a main stream knife.  All the more cool, eh?
