Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Recently we ran a post about what our members wanted for Christmas and our community responded overwhelmingly.

So, the question is did you get a knife for Christmas? We'd love to see it. Upload a pic and tell us about it.

Some assembly required ..

http://www.iknifecollector.com/photo/albums/santa-2010

I've a feeling this'll show up in the "Repair & Mods" group .. under something like "CA legal auto" kit assembly .. or something along those lines.

Initial assembly was tight .. read that as sweet !!! The assembled action is as smooth as an old gerber Paul knife .. w/o there being a hint of slop in the blade.

Came with some black linen Micarta stock (12 x 3 x .125) .. destined for scale matl.

If I can manage some decent documentation of the assembly .. I'll post in the Repar & Mod grp .. see you there !!!!

Thanks Dale. You are my hero- I can't even put together two cents. Please do come back and show us the completed knife!

this knife fits your hand like a glove,  the picture is good, but to experience this in hand is quite another !!

Looks SWEET !!! And "knife fits your hand like a glove" .. one of those where it's about the 3'rd deer before your hand needs a rest .. we like those !!!

Santa was good to you !!!

@ Don .. I read good things about the S30V steel .. but I don' t own any .. what's your opinion .. how do ya rate it relative to ..  1095 / D2 / 440C / ... ?!?!

I've read the data .. what's actual use tell ya ???? Actual "Don use" !!!

Thanks ... Dale.

Received a few knives from my sons and thought this one unusual. Its a Schrade USA with a main blade, a file and scissors. the picture is of a knifemaker holding a hammer, about to strike the anvil(or knifeblade) below.

Don- want a field test- then send them my way :)

Hi Dale and Scott

well S-30v steel seems to hold a edge , not quite long as D-2. s-30 is not as hard as d-2 witch makes it easier to sharpen.both are pretty much corrosion resistant.my Christmas knife wont be sharpened for quite a while, though my dealings with S30-v comes from using my umnamsam(?) from Chris reeve.although both blades I sharpen on diamond stones, there you can tell the difference.

as far as 1095 goes, I have 2 bowie s made from it. have to remember I don't chop or split wood with these knives.I do however whittle down wood to start a fire.the 1095 stays sharp enough for those tasks along with general food slicing duties.sharpens easily and a scalpel edge can easily be had.

as far as 440-c the one and only 440-c knife is my Buck general(circa 1970). cant say anything bad about this one.stays sharp and I have had NO problems in all these years, without doing anything to preserve the blade finish.

Now that's a classic!

Isaac, I've seen that Kershaw and love the way that looks. Its on my list! Also good to hear sharp out of the box, that's always a good sign for a new knife!

Kershaw Skyline. Its amazing, probably the best value on an edc blade to date. Came out of the box razor sharp (when i say razor sharp I mean I could preform in field surgery with this knife) its still razor sharp and I have used it quite a bit since christmas. I love it completely recomend it.
Not exactly.  I got some money and we went out and bought some knives.  A CRKT,  a recon tanto by cold steel, and a set each of 3 small Gibben throwers.
