I don't really have any special technique for taking macro shots
On my Canon there are these little green boxes
It tells you where the auto focus is "aimed" at
Sometimes I have to minutely adjust the camera so the green boxes are on the blade
Other than that I use the auto settings...

These are very fine macro photos, amigo — I never have gotten one that small or that clear. Not since way back in the 35mm film days when it took a 8" macro tube between the lens and camera body, and you had to adjust the iris manually. Modern digital cameras are a big improvement. Just as an experiment, this pix is the most close-up macro my new camera, a Sony Webbie HD 5-megapixel / 1080p video camera will shoot, subject is my el-cheapo Timex and a little Opinel #2 knife, so this is sort-of a knife photo:

Great pics. I have often strugled getting good macro shots.. Probably lack of equipment andor the skill to use it properly .. LOL

I have found that I can crop up on a "good" picture to show the details, Like in a macro phot.. But that often distorts the detail Im trying to capture..

Thanks for the info and pics..

Here is what my little digital will do at approx 10 inches and 4X zoom with the macro button on.

Took my 1st knife pics in a while yesterday. I'm hopping back on the EBAY bandwagon for a spell :)

Trent .. how about re-posting that CATT shot  !!!

 Here's a couple I managed ..

Olympus .. Stylus 1050SW

Macro .. as close as 20 cm / 7.9"

Super Macro .. as close as 7 cm / 2.8" .. >50 cm / 19.7" unable to focus

S-Macro LED .. "the LED illuminator lights the area 7~20 cm from the lens .. when the shutter button is partially depressed"

I've found the S-Macro LED mode great for controlling reflections !!!

The great thing about digital .. no winding 36 exp rolls .. no shooting rolls & rolls of film .. no darkroom .. developing .. run em all as contact prints .. and pray !!!

Nope, not digital .. instantaneous gratification !!! Add a 2GB card .. that’s something like 300 & some pics @ hi res .. if I can't get something usable in 300+ shots …..

.. reformat the card & start over.
