I noted your post on 'stabilizing'. I was wondering, how do you tell if the piece of wood, horn or bone you have in your hand has been stabilized?   Jim

I thought I recognized that name!!  I did a section on him and his family from the blade show.  I love their knives but we bought some from him at the show that he doesn't typically have on line

The little gut hooks and skinners I added to my pictures came from them

James,

So did the boys have the time of their lives?

Here is a stablized quilted maple scale I put on a blank.

Gary I really like that.  Wonderful grain and color.  Nice Knife
I have heard people mixing Linnseed oil and a hardener together to treat wood with for all kinds of projects. What I would like to know is what is the hardener and where do you get it? Thanks gang.

Robert this may help but stabilizing the material would still be best  for knives.  There are companies out there that will stabilize your wood for a minimal charge
