I know I'm not the only one. I love the Scout knives. I don't care if you call it the Camillus C-4 pattern, Boy Scout knife, camp knife or what have you; I think it is one of the greatest and long lived patterns out there.

Just about every knife maker in the world has made one so no matter what brand you collect you should have at least one Scout/camp/hobo. and if you don't have one and you go hiking, camping, fishing or some other type of outdoor activity what knife are you carrying in you pocket and what have you done with it?

Here is one of mine. It is the Case Scout Jr. (one of the few that probably won't be carried.)

Here was an Ulster scout knife that I got on ebay last spring. I had to clean it up some. Those magic erasers will do a lot for knife cleaning.

About 6 months ago I needed to fly somewhere for the first time since 9/11. As I was only taking carry-on for the four day trip, it meant that I wasn't allowed to take a pocket knife. I felt naked. The first thing I did upon landing in Minneapolis was to ask the hotel clerk ho I could get to a Walmart or Target. It was then I found out Minneapolis was the HQ for Target and the nearest store was four blocks away. As I walked to Target I passed by the main post office. (That was a unexpected plus!)

I went in to the store and headed straight to sporting goods. I was immediately disappointed because I wasn't looking to buy a knife for $20+ , fearing i might not be able to get it back home. I really didn't want to buy another Red Vic Classic SD and i was about ready to give up and leave when I saw the Coleman Hobo on sale for $9.

I knewit was made in China, but figured I'd buy it anyway. Turns out, it was a great purchase! The blade is super sharp and the spoon came in very handy during the rest of the trip. I also used to fork on an occasion.

I put the knife in a padded envelope and took it to the post office on my way to the airport and mailed it back to myself for under $3. So total price was $12 but it was worth it to have a knife with me those 4 days.

Ikeep looking at Bokers up for bid but keep letting them slip away. Maybe it is time to up the ante a bit. Very nice looking knife, Roger. I want one.
