The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Hello all,
Here a topic I posted on another site that I believe many may find interesting, if not intriging. Basically most all of us are collectors of GEC products. What really happens when we really abuse a modern knife... take a peak I've done it without bias.

I've read people on other forums going ballistic over "patina". Say they won't have it....period. Like I always wonder, what would they do if they lived before the 1940's or 1950's....not carry a pocket knife? I USED to be one of those anti-carbon steel folks, but I found it just takes a change of mindset.
Carbon steel is the best. I dont sharpen as well as Donnie does and carbon is easier for me and holds an edge better. Donnie just keeps his 1095 high polished. It's kinda like the people that love that new car smell LOL
Bob,
It is amazing that some folks dont see history and loved ones in a knife. Its the first thing I think about when I run across my dad's or one of the knives Donnie's grandmother used in the kitchen for those many years. Your right it is always a sweet memory that comes to mind and makes me smile
Hey Bob, the little row of icons above where you type your response is where you start to post a picture.
The first one says "Link" - not that one
The second one says "Image" when you hover your cursor over it. Click on it. It will give you a popup window that says "ADD IMAGE", with "From My Computer" in a little box below that.
Below that is a gray button that says "Choose File" - click on that and navigate to your picture folder on your computer......or wherever you keep photos.
Click on photo. When it's done uploading click "OK" and it should post it in your reply.
