I have found about 2 million price guides and confused, Which is the best? I have the 10th edition by Houston Price and, it is very complete but, old. Looking for something a little newer. Most books I have seen only cover a handful of makes each. Is there a newer version of price guide out that covers most all makes?

Books are always good, especially for general knife information. But I'm not so sure the price guides are good anymore with the internet and fast moving information. You probably can find more accurate information on what something is worth at any given time by asking on forums, and looking at what stuff is going for around and about on the forum. With the internet knife values are are going to be stale in a guide. It would be a general ball park guide at best. At least that how I feel now about price guides. Or, maybe I'm all wet! LOL!

I agree Craig, everything has changed.

Don, I have the C.Houston Price and Mark Zalesky 15th Edition of The Official Guide to Collector Knives. While it is excellent for history, the prices would be difficult to achieve given the current economy. This book was published on 2008, so just think how things have changed for knife values in that short time.

Levines is another book that tries to establish value. Another Forum, that he is part, of stopped giving knife values all together because of fights and disputes over $. Many of their members left because of that stoic approach to values. Things change fast now and a more current source is needed.

If I am looking for a value of what a knife is going for at any given time, I look at ebay. Honestly I can figure what I should be paying or selling for by what is happening in the market right now. I do however like to read the books. There is usually something I have never seen or always wondered about in them. I have not bought one in a couple of years

I agree Jan. Books, and lots of them, are always good to have, at least for the general information and pictures of various patterns that have been made over the years, plus info on tang stamps, history, etc, etc.
