Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I think we need to get a jump on this, so those people who have to plan ahead to purchase one can do so.

Let us discuss and then lockdown a pattern/design, get it priced out and ordered. Buying a knife around the winter holidays is difficult for everyone.

My vote is for a jack/mtnman/barlow-esque pattern Large (or Medium)

Stag/Bone/Burl wood

One/two blades

I would prefer Carbon blades, but an exotic SS is fine.

GUYS CAN I GET YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE?

WHAT IF I COULD OFFER YOU A CUSTOM KNIFE?

We have a member that is a knifemaker Mr. J Mutz.  He and I are talking about what we could do for the knife this year.

He is thinking we could do this knife in 154CPM, with a 1/2 stop.  It is 3 5/8 closed and the it is a Red Bone. It would be this knife with an iKC blade etch.  There would not be a shield this year.  Because this would be custom we could not order any more than 50 knives and his commitment is that he could deliver in September (maybe sooner but that a lot to get made in a short time)

Jeff mills his knives so the bolsters are integral to the body of the knife not pinned in place.  He believes I could put this knife in your hands for a rough estimate of $110.00.  So I need to hear what you think before I ask him to build a proto for us and I would like that done quickly.  PLEASE give me your thoughts

Love that workmanship Jan! I would be proud to own one myself.

Really nice looking knife.

Count me in for sure.

I think you have a winner there Jan and my support.

Great looking knife - count me in!

It looks beautiful.  I love the highly polished bone.  The shape is nice, almost "canoe-ish" with one bolster.  I also am glad to read it is 154 CPM, I am very happy with that steel.  With so much cheap chinese steel around, I love seeing that you are considering offering a high quality knife.... I want one.

Needs a bail.

I am totally in favor of this.  Jeff is one outstanding individual, and his work speaks for itself.  He is one great knife maker.  This idea also patronizes one of our members   What could be better than having an IKC member make the 2013 IKC knife?  Plus, for $110, we can get a gorgeous custom made knife.  To repeat, I am totally in favor of this.  You can sign me up for one as soon as this decision is made.

I also like the canoe-look and the steel.  What are your procedures for signing up to buy, and what if we sign up for more than 100?  Would he make more, or would he make a second knife for the year?  Anyway, I'd like to sign up for two.  And thank you--it seems obvious that all ideas were considered, because this represents the main centerline of the opinions.  Well done.  Thank you, Jan.  If others request, would you consider a little engraving--maybe just a short signature or something?  If that would be too cumbersome, thank you for considering.

Frank,

We are limited to 50 this year due to the time involved.  I will certainly get you two if I can.

Remember guys this is just a talking point right now but I beleive we have found a winner.  I still would like to see more responses.  Jeff has asked that i get a etch design to him this weekend and he will send me a proto to see what we think.  Once that is complete he will let me take the orders

There will be a certificate with the knife and yes i will sign it

Hey Jan, I like the knife, and I like Jeff. Put my name down for one.     Warren - "Lone Wolf".

A So.Cal knife maker is making our knife? I am definitely in for at least 1. I will be sending him some of my attempts at knife fabrication for hollow grinding and heat treatment next week. I knew he would be a good candidate for this endeavor.
Make it $115 and throw in a felt or leather knife slip.
