Man I'm glad i Knife Collector has a spot for non-knife topics.  I ran across a couple pictures today of the M14 Rifle.  In this case the M14 EBR (enhanced battle rifle.) and the M14EBR-RI.   The difference is in the barrel length.  The EBR has a shortened 18 inch barrel while the EBR-RI has the original 22 inch barrel.

I've always loved the M14. It was phased out before I entered the Army but i had the opportunity to use and fire it in College ROTC.  The gun was beautiful.  I'm glad it has found new life.  not every soldier needs a carbine.  The army is issuing two per platoon in Afghanistan.  I think I'd make it at least one per squad.

Don't get me wrong.  I also think the old wooden stock, iron sights M14 was a fantastic weapon.  I'm just glad the rifle has found new life no matter how they dress it up!

It looks like a real bad dude in a fire fight.

WOW - here is mine that I carried.

Awesome looking weapon.
The M14 served it's purpose well and has a great place in American history.

Yes, I believe it was much more dependable than the M-16. And more accurate.

Looking good there, Ken. We're proud of you.

Great picture Ken. The M14 was a great rifle with a very short lived active career.  Beside being more accurate and more reliable than the first M16s it was also  about 4 pounds heavier, not to mention the weight of the ammo.

All I have left is an M14 magazine.  Looking for an M14 bayonet.
