Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hey just wanted to get some discussion started on here so I pulled out two of these Tuna Valley Cutlery Co. congress's that Perry Miller had made by Great Eastern Cutlery before he sold us the stamping. These knives are Cigar Congress's with Slanted Pinch Nickle Silver Bolsters and Nickle Pinned Crest Shields. The blade steel used is a high grade 440C Stainless Steel with two master blades a Muskrat Clip and a Long Wharncliffe Blade and the secondary blades are a Coping & Sheep Foots Blade. I have pictured 2 of the 3 handles that were made Jigged Red Bone & Bocote Wood. I have examined and played around with both these knives they have excellent walk and talk in the blades and have a great Brush Polish Finish. I wish I had a few stags but I havn't got them from my dad yet. I might have some later which I will post later. Please give me some feedback on ways I can approve this group, discussion, or website(being worked on).  Thanks

Hey Ryan, first off, thank you so much for sharing this info, I know we all have been on the edge of our seats. I'm really happy to see that you guys will still be in the cutlery world, it would have been a major loss had you guys stepped back completely. The Tuna Valley knives are really interesting, they carry that old world tone with them, like the Tidioutes from GEC. You have me with the name!!!

I look forward to adding a Tuna to my collection, but I understand that you guys are still getting everything taken care of. The idea of new steels being added has collectors/users going, myself included. I could live on 1095, but the idea that we will have new/more stainless options is an inviting thought.

As far as making the group better, I suggest you hire Jan!!!!

She keeps a group going like you wouldn't believe. : )

I would just stay involved in your website and this group and always be the first source of info. Everybody will be clamoring to see whats next, so just stay involved.

I hope and pray the best for you guys, your reputation has earned you customers. Keep up the hard work!!!

hi ryan it is hard for any company to start all over again.but you guys have alot going for you.one is the way jan has spoke of you guys on here when jan speaks people listen.her word is very trusted on this site.i would have never got a gec if it was'ent from her word to just try it.another is your family has a trusted name as long as you listen to the people you can not go wrong.good advertesment is a must. maybe with knives live they keep getting bigger and better all the time they have good people and will replace with no questions ask.that is big with us in the collector world.good design and q.c. is a must .people love well made things that look good and will last.i hope this helps a little my friend if you ever need me just ask.sdtungate@aol.com or stephen tungate@iknifecollector.com

Ryan, those blades are too plain for me, have a nice swedge put on them and dress up the nail pull. The Tuna Valley name doesn't mean much to me because I have never heard of it until lately. Do some history on the brand and make it interesting. Get people fired up. I wish you the best and think you will do well if you listen to your customers. Good luck.

Robert if you link at the first page there is a Tuna Valley Cutlery Co. timline with a article by David Anthony. This congress was produced by a friend of ours Perry Miller who we aquired the trade mark from. We do plan on having Deep Cut Swedges and Long Puls along with great handle material and specialty blade steels. I appricate you joining the group and your input.

Wow, guys...you make me blush.  I appreciate all that you have said.  Having spent time with the Daniels family and having watched them grow with thier last knife venture....I would say we are in for an exciting time with Tuna Valley.  I know Ryan has looked forward to being involved with you all for a while and this is a perfect opportunity for him.  I encourage everyone to visit the Daniels Family at any show they are in attendance at.  It truley is a treat to be treated so wonderfully by a company and a family.

Ryan, that sounds great, I just want you to have something special to start off with. I met Mr. Perry Miller, I bought a knife from him, is his nick name "knife boy" or something like that? Good luck and please let us know whats happening with the project.

Very cool knives, Ryan.

As for what I'd like to see...well, it'd be great to see you post upcoming blades for Tuna Valley Cutlery. I tend to go to iKC for most of my knife info...so having you post things here is "convenient" for me. Like johnny twoshoes, I like the idea of more steels. I like 1095...always have, always will...but I also really like ATS-34 and would like to see somebody use this besides Queen/Schatt & Morgan.

I hope you will try to complete a seemless transition from the 1st (5201 burnt stag) and 2nd (1402 cherry wood, 2402 blood red jigged bone, 5402 burnt stag) editions of the new Tuna Valley knives done by Perry Miller and whatever new ones you put out.  Maybe use a version of Perry's numbering system or continue with different numbered editions.

Hi Ryan,   Congrats on the acquisition. I had never heard of "Tuna Valley" until the news hit that your family had purchased it. Will you be making the knives from scratch or will you be "jobbing out" the manufacturing? I like the pix you have put up.

When you are up & going you need to come to a CKKC meeting and bring us up to date. I also trust you will exhibit at our August show. The show info is on "I Knife".

Good luck to you & the family on this venture. "Made in the USA with quality and integrity by Tuna Valley Knife company" woud be a good slogan to advertise with.

Ryan,

nice knives. I wish you much luck with your new endeavor and look forward one day to sell your knives also (SonoranDesertKnives.com)

Leopold

Scout Knife,  knives with LP secondaries in front (thru the tang is AWESOME),  swell-center jack, congress jack, large hunter, large coke bottle, and maybe a sportsmans knife - get a few of those done and you will have my FULL attention!!

Trevor

I just saw the Tuna Valley #72 on the GEC website. WOW! Now that is a beautiful knife.  I can't wait to get one of those in my hands.  Keep up the good work!
