Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I have a blackjack bowie (serial numbered knife, in a series of 500)

Part of an estate.

Handle marked blackjack texas bowie

Blade marked as a limited edition and serial numbered

Handle is ivory colored and I think is micarta.

Blade is 12.5 inches, overall length 18.75

Can anyone advise where to get an accurate price so I can sell it?

Photos available. Does not have a sheath.

Any help appreciated.

Let's see some photos there, Paul. If it's a Blackjack, I can find out whatever you need.

A bit of additional research. It is indeed a blackjack, not a collins. I have attached two photos, one showing handle emblem and one of the knife. Hope they are useful.

I also have several Gerbers (Mark II) if interested

Thanks for your assistance!

Very nice, Paul!! I'm jealous! Check out our group... http://www.iknifecollector.com/xn/detail/3181080:Group:911883

Borrowed from the Blackjack Info Pages...

The Texas bowie's were a limited run of what was to be limited to just 500 knives. I have been told that only about half of the 500 were actually made.  So I asked Jason Stewart, son of Mike Stewart former BlackJack CEO if he could kindly provide us collectors with any information about the knives. Jason had this to say " I remember working on those when I was in high school.
That would have made it fall of '91 and spring of '92.

The blades were purchased from the National Historic foundation for a series of knives
that they never made. They were carbon steel there were indeed 500 made. As a matter
of fact, there were more blades than that...consecutively numbered, that never became
complete knives.

The blades were numbered "#001 of 500", etc. However, because marking lasers are
computerized, some blades were marked 501, 502, 503, etc. These were never finished
and set aside or ground in to something else."

Jason also told me that there was no real inspiration for the knife. Though I have since learned that The National Historic foundation, had planned to offer reproductions, of an interesting old bowie knife, that may have been  made, by Rose in New York, in the 1840s

Oh, and I am seeing these for between $250 and $350. Depending on the condition of the knife, and the fact it has no box or sheath, I'm thinking the $250ish range or less. Still a great knife!

I will be selling this knife.

Other than the knife auction area, any thoughts on the appropriate place to list it?

I am in the process of downsizing and as much as I appreciate it's beauty, she needs a home.

Can post it on ebay, that might be your best bet. A few others might suggest somewhere else as well. I would add it to my Blackjacks, but I have no allowance to play with.

Unless you go by the name Pablo on another forum, someone else has one of these for sale in the same condition as yours. Russell gave him much the same info as I gave you...roughly $250...and Russell is one of two folks I will go to if I have a Blackjack question. Hope this helps.

No, you are correct. I went to the for sale portion of the forum, for more info and to perhaps find a buyer. My understanding is that this portion is monitored, so that I can then pay the commission to the web site if the knife (or the others) should sell. Want to be above board, and did not want to appear to try to sell without being in that portion of the site.

Thanks for seeing it!

I have difficulty sending pictures due to size limits on this site. If you can send an email or phone I can email or text them to you. The prior posts on this thread and the litttle research I have been able to do show these going for 250-300. This one lacks a box or sheath, so it will be the lower end. I work nights and will not be out of bed until mid day. (I get off at 6am)
