Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I'm hoping someone here has seen this knife or would be willing to sell it.

This was my husband's very first knife when he was a boy, and it triggered his love for knifes to this day.

Unfortunately, this was stolen with a few others. This knife was a very important memory he had with his father that is no longer with us.

I figured the place to ask would be the collector community, I'm sure you all have/had a knife that holds a special place with you.

It's terrible losing something with such sentimental value, Amber.    Unless a member, here, has one of suggest that you enter a search on the eBay and keep an eye on it.  There seems to be a lot of Yellowstone scrimshaws, but I haven't seen an Old Faithful version.

I certainly wish you and your husband good luck in the search.

Interesting - I just had a similar discussion regarding another S&W knife. I echo J.J.'s response in that it's not hard to find an S&W S.W.A.T. First Millennium knife...but it's crazy hard to find one like you are looking for.

While it's not impossible, it will take time and perseverance. I have no doubt the gang here will keep an eye out for such a piece - we all love to do that sort of thing.

Also - help us help you by keeping this thread alive. Simple updates every month or so of locations and links that you may have searched will keep us all focused, reminded, and may spark some additional ideas from other members.

Thank you everyone for keeping an eye out for this.

I have been on many sites. And have only found one, unfortunately they sold it. I even went as far as to ask the seller if they would contact the buyer and see if they would be willing to sell it. The seller wasn't comfortable with that, and I completely understand. And I scroll Ebay at least twice a week. I knew this knife would be a challenge, but I had no idea it would be this hard. I appreciate your kind words. Let me know if anyone sees anything!!

You guys are the best!

Hi Amber - it's good that you chimed in again - as stated earlier this helps keep your thread active and in front of other collectors.

What's funny is that I worked on this for a couple of hours on NYD. Maybe you can help with this....my strategy is to find one like your photos on line (nothing yet), obtain the specific S&W part number for that variant, then send you a list of dealers that have "Wish Lists" on their sites.

This will broaden your search capabilities by possibly enticing another collector to sell theirs. However, I am not finding anything that comes close to yours.

Does your Sold source have a specific part number?

Also - this great idea - should we come up with one - may require your to join each site you want to post your Wish on.

Like I said - it's an idea....doesn't make it a good one. :-)

Oh...I forgot to mention that in my trying to find your knife's part number, I have started a process of elimiation to help narrow the search. Your knife varient appears to be in the SW23000 series of numbers (base knife pattern - varying scale config), and probably somewhere in the 23100 range specifically. I have confirmed these:

SW23001B = black scales, Bear scrimshaw

SW23201B = black scales, Dear scrimshaw

SW23101 = white scales, Bear scrimshaw

SW23nnn = white scales, Eagle scrimshaw

So now it's just a matter of plugging in numbers and hoping to find it.
