Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I purchased  this Case knife back around 2000, when Lowes Hardware stopped selling knives such as Case - here where I live they did. It's been used and abused, lost and found, burnt - you name it. I still cherish it though. I have Steve Pfeiffer's 2009 book on Case Collecting, and have found that the tang stamp on this knife makes from 2000-2009. Like the 1970s and 1980s dot dating do the Xs and dots on this blade mean years or just the dots? I'm trying to figure out what year-make this knife is... I believe it's 2000. Anyway, I plan on putting it up for my son, and carrying my SOG for everyday use instead of this green-boned beauty.

Thanks

Have a good one -

Tim

Ok. I apprently didn't look hard enough in Pfieffer's book. On page 16 it states that from 2001-05 a dot is removed for each year and from 2006-09 a X is removed... So this knife was made in 2000?

YOU HAVE A 2000 KNIFE WHICH IN VALUE ALL 10 DOTS ARE MOST SOUGHT AFTER WITH A DOT OR X IS REMOVED FOR EVERY YEAR AFTER THAT HAVEN'T KEPT UP WITH NEWER KNIVES SO NOT SURE OF STAMPING QUIT GETTING KNIVES NOT LONG AFTER 2000 BECAUSE IT BECAME A FAD AND DIDN'T LIKE THE KNIVES THEY USE SAME HANDLE DESIGNS ONLY CALLED BY A DIFFERENT NAME AND I DON'T LIKE THE NEW HANDLE MATERIAL THEY CAME UP WITH MAKES THE KNIFE LOOK CHEAP AND THEY ARE NOT THEY HAVE SAME QUALITY JUST LOOK CHEAP MY OPINION MY WIFE IS LIFE MEMBER OF CASE COLLECTORS AND WE HAVE QUITE A FEW (WELL OVER A 100) JUST AN OPINION MY WIFE WAS INTO PEARLS SO WE HAVE MOST PATTERNS IN PEARL

Here is a web link to Case.  This page is helpful as well.

First, Welcome.  Yes yours is a 2000.  I have the same knife, also purchased at my local Lowes, that your question put me on the hunt to find.  Mine is a 2004.  It was bought back when I just accumulated knives as I saw something different and didn't keep the boxes.  Now, I guess,I am a collector?? I have so many accumulated over the years, I guess I need to call them a collection.

Yep I have the red tin it came in but not the foam. I was just showing my kids my small collection. I have about 20 + pocket knives, mostly Case but am now accumulating older Boker, Remington, and a few others.

That's purdy, Andy.  I'm liking the dropping russlocks.

Great story Tim. For me, it is interesting to read or hear about people and their favorite knives. I too have some favorite Case knives which I use on a daily basis. Of all of the folding non-auto knives I have, and there are a few, I like my Case knives. I would love to see Case come out with and keep a line of AISI 1090 carbon steel folding pocket knives.

By the way, I am still waiting for Case's reintroduction of an auto pocket knife. One year ago this week, this was the rumor. What say you Fred?

Clint

Im not Fred, but I've seen, held and operated the new auto mid-folding hunter and let me tell you, it is SWEET ! ! !

Thanks JJ!  I've been wanting one of the drop point russlocks for a while now, I couldn't pass up the price on this one, picked it up at Shepherd hills at the Case event a few weeks ago.

Here is a 2017 russlock I was commissioned to apply scrimshaw to the mark and pile sides and also fileworked the blade and back spring.
