Hey Ken,

Send me a pic of the Trail Master with stag handles. Tell me what you want for it and we'll see what happens,

thanks,

Ellis Roberson

Thinking about thinning out the herd a bit.

Who would be interested in both of these  COLD STEEL TRAIL MASTER model(s)?

I have two, both thirty plus years old.

TM #1 Looks to be a standard Trail Master, rubber handle, synthetic sheath, all original papers, label says:

NO. 16JS

1PC.

TRAIL MASTER

MADE IN JAPAN

I've owned this knife for over thirty years...new in the box

TM #2 Looks to be a Trail Master, stag handle, leather sheath, knife has never been placed into sheath, all original papers, label says:

16S

TRAIL MASTER - STAG

1 PC.

 Opposite end label reads:

MADE IN USA

Can send pics of both if you are interested. Thanks

Ha - vindicated! Gotta love those double-headed coins!  :-D

oops.  You were right.  the picture with the two kalinga folders and 2 fixed blades ARE Akonuas.  The Kalinga fixed blade is next to the Talwar.  You flipped the coin correctly.

Comment by Lars on September 25, 2022 at 21:52

Ahhh..so it is a Kalinga...I wasn't quite sure when I commented. I obviously spent too much time flipping that coin... :-D That's a great side x side comparison - gives some good scale as to the actual size of the Talwar.

Comment by John Smithers on September 25, 2022 at 16:25

I put the Talwar next to the full size Kalinga.  It shows just how large the Talwar is.  Holding the Talwar is such an awesome, and odd, experience.  I can almost hold the Talwar with two hands on the handle!

Comment by John Smithers on September 25, 2022 at 16:22

the bottom one is a Buck Kalinga.  The top two are Buck Kalinga Folders, pro.  the top 2 are S30V steel. The Kalingas have been out of production for a while.

The Kalinga below is a Pro model.  It is in S30V steel.

That's a sweet pair of Buck Akonua's you there as well John. Your Talwar XL will look great among this group.

So what are the two folders?

DLKG - I did not check on the size.  I bought it because of the shape of the blade!  when I got it I was truly shocked!  (in a good way)

John Smithers, That looks to be a Talwar XL -- nice choice for a first Cold Steel!  People just tend not to appreciate the immense size of these knives until they finally hold one.  Pretty cool.  Enjoy it!
