Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I wanted to update all of the members who are interested in the knives we are having made for us by GEC. Derek, Bill and I have been talking about this since our first knife was in the process of being made and have decided that we are going to do a Eureka Jack. We wanted to, again do an older pattern and if you look at the picture that I have included you will see 3 Eureka's. From the left, a custom knife made for me by Ken Erickson an OVB marked knife that was made by New York Knife Co and a Carrier Cutlery salesman's knife. The knife that GEC will be making will have some items from each of these. I have always loved this pattern and since it is an old one thought that it would fit in nicely with what we are doing.

Derek will be updating our website as you knives are being made and you can go to the GEC site to see the knives also. We are hoping to have the knives done by the end of Feb or the begining of March.

We will be doing something special with these also like the wiping cloths being added to the first knife so keep checking the 2 sites for more info.

Thanks Mike & Derek, JBF Champlin & Sons Cutlery

So as I understand it

  • The wood handle is harveted from the factory
  • Each knife will have a knife opener in the same shape as the shield w/Cattaraugus wood
  • GALVANIC on the main blade tang and deep etched on the face of the main blade will be GALVANIC..
  • Short runs

DO I HAVE ALL THAT RIGHT?

Yes you do Jan except that we will be offering a  Burnt Stag handled knife also which will have the same markings and etch and will include the knife opener with the Cattaraugus wood. We should have them by the end of Feb or early March

Here are some pictures of the setup knife, shield and the blade openers. The piece of wood has been cut and sanded from one of the old handles I found that was dark and dirty. I love the way it looks now!!! We will probably be going with the larger of the openers.

Excellent Mike, thanks for sharing the pics.

This just gets better.  So for those folks that prefer the Stag, it is available AND will come with the blade opener :)

February is coming and soon these beauties will be home with us ***happy face***

Yes Jan Feb is on the way and we can't wait to get them too!! To see those Rosewood handles on the knives will be very special!! I sometimes still can't believe that this is happening.

Here's the latest scoop on the Eureka's, the etch that Derek is working on!!!

That is sure looking sweet.  Talk at the show this weekend is that this will be one sweet knife that ties in the history so well it is a must have

Thanks Jan, what show are you talking about??
