Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi everyone and welcome to our newest members,

Something we have not talked about lately is new aquisitions.  Tell us about your latest and greatest GEC.  Donnie bought me both the new 23's in the Beavertail (Worlds greatest husband by the way)  He got himself the newest 73 in Primitive bone.  THAT is a heck of a nice knife.

What have you gotten lately?

You are so right Johnny, GEC's bone is simply phenominal.  The PB's are safe queens we love them just cant bring our selves to use them

Here are my newest additions - a Yellow Bone Deluxe Congress, White Owls in Dusk Buffalo Horn, Cocobolo & Snakewood, a Stockman/Whittler #54 in Green Velvet Perylic and a Big Jack #54 in Cranberry Perylic. I can't help but think that the White Owl frame would be great as a moose, big/little jack, whittler or camp knife....

I agree with the Camp knife idea, this would be a good size for my camp knife, I know history has them a little bigger in size, but why not?

The dusk buffalo is awesome, I'm really liking this pattern.

Those are beautiful Tom!

All I can say is SWEET!

Those are great, Tom.  Love the light shade dusk horn 68.  The ones I saw were too dark for my tastes.   That green velvet acrylic looks really neat.  I've been wanting to try something in that color.  Is that your first three spring whittler?  How much wider is it than the big jack?

biglmbass,

I agree with you, I like the lighter shades of dusk. One side of mine is light and one is darker. I wish that I could have gotten one with matched handles.  This is my first green velvet acrylic handled knife. It seems just a tad dark for my tastes but maybe that's because I am looking at it inside, but the color seems a bit subdued and doesn't jump out at you. No, I have several of the #54W's (I think I've got a total of 5 Northfields and 2 Bulldogs made by GEC). It is not much wider at all, maybe 1/16". The Big Jack is 1/2" wide and the Whittler appears to be 9/16" wide per my 50 year old eyes. I really like the #54 pattern and wish that GEC would bring it back in some of their newer handle materials. I just added another #54 Moose in Orange Crush Acrylic with dual clip blades - anxious to get that one. I am a sucker for whittlers and lockbacks and maybe a few others too I guess....I do think that the #68 would make a very pocketable little whittler and the Deluxe Congress would make a very handsome whittler similar to the #62 whittler that GEC put out  last year. It seems like every pattern of theirs can turn into multiple other patterns/knives. I'd like to see the #33 Conductor with an extra blade to make it a whittler. The 33, 68 & Deluxe 61 are all in that size range that make them ideal.

Cant wait to see that orange crush, I hear they are NICE!

Me too Handmade Blades! I do overdo it a bit with my knives I have to admit. I may need to get a second job to afford my addiction. Once bitten by the GEC bug it is hard to stop!

Jan, Here is the Moose that came today. I have had the Orange whittler for awhile.

Nice, Tom.  I'm liking that orange.

Good looking Moose my friend.

The acrylic is a really cool material, seems pretty tough too. Great swedges and long pulls.
