The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Win a Free Ocoee River Vagabond (Hobo) !!! How to win!
Some General Guidelines.
Okay now for how to enter:
Please answer the four questions below to the best of your abilities by Sunday, April 19, 2015. There is no right or wrong answer. If you submit an answer, your name will be entered into a drawing and your name will be drawn randomly. All members of Knife Pattern Collectors as of April 17, 2015 are eligible to win except for me! I will draw the winning name on Monday April 20, 2015.
You must answer the four questions in this discussion! Answers must be posted here -- within this discussion!
Simply replying to the thread does not constitute an entry. You must answer the questions! Your name will only be entered once regardless of how many times you answer the questions. But if you do not answer the questions I will assume that you do not wish to participate in the drawing.
All names will be placed in a hat, and the winner will be drawn from the hat. The drawing results are final. If the winner is decides for one reason or another not to take the prize, then a second drawing will take place. The winner will receive the knife pictured and possibly other items that will fit in the box.
And now for the three questions
1) What is (are) your everyday carry knife (knives)
2) What is your favorite traditional pattern folder
3) What is your favorite knife brand
4) What is your favorite pattern of fixed blade knife
Feel free to include pictures of your favorite patterns and your EDCs. While they will not increase your chance of winning the prize it will improve the quality of the discussion!

Interesting, I have the same knife, same box, but mine is red bone rather than green. Heavyweight, a real brute of a knife. The same size, yet twice as heavy as my Buck 110. I figure the knife is so heavy it could be used as a weapon even with the blade closed, it would easily break a car's window if necessary. Nice knife, I like mine!

1. The knife I have been carrying in my purse for the last year and half is a multi purpose knife with a little light on it. It is silver and there is no name on it that I can find other than stainless and China.
2. I don't have a favorite one.
3. Case and Smith and Wesson so far
4. Again I don't have a favorite one, there are so many different patterns I like, depends on my mode when I see them.
This is the latest knife I bought:
1. My latest EDC is my Kershaw Scrambler....which is now a discontinued item in my style according to Kershaw.com. However, when in the office, my business EDC is the Kershaw 3160 Crown. More businesslike and less intimidating to others when opened.
Kershaw Scrambler:
Kershaw 3160 Crown & 3150 Crown II:
2. I'm not much on collecting folders, but my favorite folder pattern is the folding dirk - particularly when the blade is 3 or 4 times longer than the handle, such as often seen from those from Sheffield, England. A classic example:
3. My Favorite Knife brand? Well, based on the brand I own the most of, it must be Kershaw. It's a brand with a great pedigree, reputation, and it's designs have withstood the test of time. Many of it's designs have already reached "legendary" status and collectible values in it's comparative life span.
4. While I am a real sucker for boots, daggers & dirks, my favorite fixed blade pattern is the Bowie in all of it's manifestations - Sheffield, Traditional, Classic, and Modern. And while in the case of a Bowie bigger is not always better, there is just something appealing to a nice 10-14" knife.
Gaeta Bowie:
And the bonus companion Gaeta Dagger:
Frost likes to call this knife a "Bear Claw" regardless of which Frost brand it is. Buck calls it a 100. The Generic is 5 inch llock-back or folding hunter..

I will be announcing the winner tomorrow!
And I just realized I never answered the four questions.
1) What is (are) your everyday carry knife (knives)
I carry a Victorinox Spartan Lite w/ after market plus scales, a Victorinox Signature, and a Colonial Key Chain Switch Blade. I've also been carrying a Kabar Hobo recently as I've been reviewing. The Spartan Lite has been my EDC for almost three years. The Signature replaced my Mindite Manager about a year ago. The Colonial came onboard two month ago. It will be here until I lose it. (I seriously doubt I can break it!)
2) What is your favorite traditional pattern folder
It is hard to say. I go back and forth between the 4 blade Camp/Scout, the large Toothpicks/Fish knives, Marlin Spikes and equal end pen knives. It is much easier for me to go negative and say what traditional patterns are my least favorite!
3) What is your favorite knife brand
The brand that I mention first is the original pre-2007 Camillus! I'm always looking for old Camillus knives. Current Made in the USA is W.R. Case & Son (I can afford them!) When it comes to knives not made in USA my favorite brand is Victorinox. I love Swiss Army Knives. As for knives made in China. Like my sig-block used to read: "Like the most interesting man in the world.I don't always buy knives produced globally but when I do I prefer Rough Riders"
So there you have it, Rough Rider, Victorinox, Case, and Camillus. The order really is important!
4) What is your favorite pattern of fixed blade knife
I tend to lean toward Military issued fixed blades (I'm an old infantry man). However, I find a small camp knife or hunter more than adequate when out and about in the woods. I guess the modern equivalent for a camp knife is a Bush-craft. I prefer a traditional camp knife.
The Rough Rider 844 is my normal go to camp knife. It is third one from the top in the picture below.
Top to bottom
Camillus 1013 Upswept Skinner
My homemade Appalachian Hunter
Rough Rider 844 Hunter
Turtleman Lightning
Colt Serengeti Guthook Skinner
Case Ridgeback Skinner.
Hi All. It is time to announce the winner! I know everyone is excited but only one person can win and that winner is .... going to be announced right after eat lunch!
