Cocobolo wood is always pleasing to the eye and can be shaped to fit your hand

I agree, cocobolo is very pleasing for handle material.  I am just trying to figure out the how, since the threaded part of the curved tang is what broke off in the pommel.  I would like to re-use some of the hardware. I'm just trying to decide whether to go with a solid block to shape or use some scales to pin together with mosaic pins.  I was also thinking about using antler. This reminds me of an earlier post about rebuilding a Camillus pilot knife.  Thanks for the input.

Well, I had finally ordered a black, polished horn with some mosaic pins for the handle.  The materials arrived yesterday and the horn was barely wider than the tang itself.  Apparently the diameter of the horn varies, even though the length ordered was the same. I picked up some red oak to shape for the handle.

Here I am shaping the red oak block for the handle. Then I have the finished handle with custom texture carved into it, a brass mosaic pin and a nickle tube for the lanyard hole.
