Our temps are scheduled to be over 80 for the high each day also. That's to hot if you have to track a deer that has been hit, and then keep it cool until processing. I have lots of time, I can wait a little longer.

My deer season opens Oct. 15.  It will most likely be over 63 when I go hunting.  The temp here is supposed to be over 80 every day this week.  Last season I remember sitting in my ladder stand with my crossbow and sweating.

Went hunting this morning. Was in the woods before daylight. 63 degrees so still kinda warm. Sat in stand a little over 2 hours, saw only a squirrel and 2 woodpeckers spooning. No deer, seems unusual - think I will wait until it gets a little cooler, have lots of time. Maybe next week as it is going to get warmer here as this week progresses..

A lot of hunting seasons open on October 1 or the first week end in October. It would be great to hear about some hunting stories. Successful or not, if something interesting happened on your hunt or you just had a great time. We would like to hear about it. Please tell us some stories.

I will start out Squirrel hunting, it's my favorite, I'll try bow hunt later. I have a young man to help out. We will just find where their feeding at and sit and wait, for them. I bring a small folding chair, to sit on. I also drive my ATV as close as possible to the spot. When you get older and a bit disabled, you find ways to make things easier.

Years ago, I won the Delta Waterfowl knife of the year, only to donate it back to them years later, for a fund raiser. You may view it's picture on my personal page. It's the knife on a Cypress knee, with a lot of engraving on the blade.

A knife and decoys, sounds like a good win to me!

The butt cap has a brass end like a shotgun shell. I need to take a picture of it, to show ya'll. Thanks guys. My buddy's laughed because I won a knife. I also won 6 Mallard decoys.

That's a keeper, Robert!

"Lucky me," is right, Robert! That knife is really nice looking. I should be so lucky!
