I shoot a Cross Box. I use to shoot a Compound and a long box, but I am disabled and can no longer shoot those. I find that the meat in a real big and mature Buck the best. He eats well and doesn't move much. The meat is super, to me. I'd rather eat a 10 point than a 6 point. That's just my opinion.

Bambi grew up to be big!  LOL

You and I are on the same page.  I killed two last season also, a six point and a seven point.  Got both of those with my .30-06.  I killed one season before last with my crossbow, a big doe.  That season I got another doe and two bucks with my gun.  Our bow season opens in mid October and runs through January.  Our gun season opens in mid November and runs through January.  The limit for my part of AL is a doe and a buck a day with a three buck season limit.  So I could legally kill over a hundred deer a season but only three could be bucks.

I have a 17 foot ladder stand that I hunt from during bow season and two shooting houses that i hunt from with a gun.  One of my shooting houses I could modify so that I could hunt from it with my crossbow.  I hope to get that done by bow season.

If you want to read a story about the six point I killed last season,   http://www.iknifecollector.com/group/outdoorliving/forum/topics/the...

I try not to shoot any Bambi's - the bigger ones have more meat, though I don't want one to old. My wife is excellent cooking wild meat, we just had Deer steaks today from the two I shot last year. Season is coming up soon. I gotta get shooting my Bow. I use a Compound and a Crossbow - depending on what stand I am in. I love it.

I love to eat deer too, might cook some tonight. My garden problems are rabbits. We fence it in and they still find a way in. I eat rabbits too....lol
