Nice knife .. 'n indeed .. nice scrimshaw.

You might try contacting this party .. T.R. Overeynder .. doing business as TRO knives out of Arlington, TX.

Hi, I did call Tom and he remembered the knife very well, but does not know who did the work.  He made it in 1984 and it was #004 of that style that he made and sent it back to the original owner.  I've gone through most of the paperwork and drawing a blank on the artist.

I know that Sam Alfano did the engraving and spoke to him as well.

Thank you for you help!

Steven

How did you get the photo to show in image form?

There is a menu bar along the top of comment & discussion boxes. The 2cnd icon from the left .. a lil square pic icon .. will facilitate loading a pic file such that it is displayed as an image ..as opposed to.. an attachment. If you click on the indicated icon .. an "ADD IMAGE" box will appear .. prompting you to browse your computer for the appropriate picture file .. which will then upload & be displayed graphically as an image.

.

Enjoy

Just an Update, Thanks Jan for the lead. It paid off! David did scrimshaw the knife

I have another one for the group.  Initials appear to be a "RX" on 2 OGG folders  Again circa 1980

And a big thank you to D ale for the image help!

Glad to help, Steve.

I believe .. you'll find an extremely friendly & helpful on-line community here.

If / when you encounter an issue .. just post a query .. someone will always step up to the plate & offer some help.

.

Could you post a pic of the stamping on the tang of the blade. I know it's the scrimshaw artist you're looking for info on ..but.. the manuf of the knife may be in a position to help.

.

Enjoy

D ale, it's a Bob Ogg folder  I gonna reach out to Max the knife, Bob's step son soon.

Steven,

Bob did a lot of his own engraving but he had a few quirks that may help us determine if this is one of his.

1) he engraved the date it was made

2) he engraved the # of the knife (ie: 112/200) AND he recorded each knife and who it was sold to.  Max has those records

3) many times he engraved the purchasers name on the liner OR their initials on the knife.

I think Max is your key here !

Just an Update, Thanks Jan for the lead. It paid off! David did scrimshaw the knife

Excellent!  I am glad you now have all the info available for that one.
