I am fortunate to have a few knives scrimshawed by Brad, aka TXForce. This Back Pocket remains my favorite. Case XX 2011 Back Pocket - Tony Bose Smooth Antique Bone TB61546 SHOT Show Exclusive - End of Trail Scrim by Brad O'Brien - A true gentleman and friend (1943 - 2015).
I found some amazing kits to learn scrimshaw! I just had to share them, seems there are many versions

Donnie is SOOO getting one of these for a stocking stuffer!!
Chuck, about that tooth being resin or actual tooth. I found this:

Some usefull information there, based on that I suspect your piece being a resin piece.
Hutch,
That is a kind offer and great way to help the budding artists. Stefan, that is some great detailed work!
Chuck send me an address . I will send a cross section of scrap. I will buff the surface so you can scratch right away. On the buffalo horn try just scratching the highlight areas. Reverse is dramatic and you can see your working easier as you scratch. Fill it with white acrylic paint, and wipe away the excess immediately. I want in my lifetime for scrimshaw to be accepted as a mainstream art form. I will help any scrimschander get going. ...HutcH
Most of the lines are sharp edges with a difference in depth and width. I figured it wasn't a real tooth but I didn't buy it for its authenticity. I bought it more for an attention getter and a display piece. I am happy with it. I sure appreciate your expertise. I have Boones site and as soon as I am able to get back to work, I'll be buying some materials. I feel that I need to practice on some different materials and continue developing my skills. Thanks for your input Hutch!
