I agree with you all the Para 2 is by far the bestseller for spyderco maybe after the Delica and Endura combo but those are different knifes for different applications I do love the model dragonfly I collect them so I wait for the orange one now I plane to buy the limited pink version yes and on my wish list is also the sprint-run calypso. 

And I do want the new flipper that was announced on shot-show 2013 I dont like so much the southard flipper is just not my cup of tea but that new  one wow that is something.

After carrying a Para 2 daily for the last couple of years I can certainly appreciate its popularity. Clipped inside my right front pocket with a paracord lanyard dangling from it makes it most accessible for just about any task that should come my way during the day or night. And, with its one handed opening ability, it is also the easiest of my EDC knives to access, use and operate. Then, as most are familiar with its now famous compression lock and "Spydie drop," it closes just as easily as it opened. 

I'm glad that I already own 3 of these fantastic knives, each with different colored G10 scales and steel variants -- S30V, S35V, CTS-XHP.

A salesperson at my local brick n' mortar knife store just returned from the recent SHOT shot in Las Vegas where he spoke to Eric Glesser at the Spyderco booth. He said that Eric told him that they (Spyderco) were running 10 months behind in the production the Paramilitary 2. Which would then jibe with what your Spydie Byte reveals, Steve.

For sure, the Para 2 is a great knife! If you don't already own one you should definitely put one on your bucket list of knives to get. You won't regret it!

Hey Spydie Friends!!

Here is my new collection entry the Chicago.

What can I say I love my little spydie's :-) for general EDC or office carry you cant find better suited spydie's than that have the famous wire clip.

This one is little bit on the smaller side I need to pick up the Cat but this one is a must have for all spyderco collectors. It has a 440c blade what was considered back in the days as a high end steel and I think it outperforms a bunch of new steels used in today's folders. This is mainly due to the awesome heat-treat that spyderco puts on their 440.

Hi Ron you know spyderco is my favorite brand I estimate 75% of my knives are spyderco knives. I need to make a collection update I have a bunch new and used one's. About the Frame/liner lock yes you are right it is a frame lock plus has a g10 scale on the top so basically it is still a frame lock has all the frame lock features and flaws the improvement is maybe that because of the g10 scale is harder to pres against the frame lock so the only downside of the frame lock function should be terminated with this combination design.

I did forgot to mention the pocket clip they made it just one side mounting so there is no relief cut on the other scale so you can not jut switch it to the other side. Another down side  because of the deep carry pocket clip it is some what harder to take it out quick because of the G10 is is little bit slippy on the end so the best way to take it out is with the lanyard I think this was the intention because they did put it there not just for aesthetics or lock.  

You have good eye to compare it with the yojimbo but the yojimbo has a extreme penetration reverse tanto blade something like the sheep's foot   and the PPT has more a rounded shape like the wharncliffe so this both of them are more like working type of blade configurations that makes them equally good also for self defense use.

Thanks for the quick review! I hear what you're saying about the titanium frame locks and their potential for developing the kind of problems that you mentioned. That's why Spyderco added the steel insert on the second generation titanium Military model, like the one I have.

I understand that the PPT is suppose to be some kind of a combination of the Michael Walker liner lock and the Reeves integral lock? I haven't actually handled one so I can only imagine what it's like. Isn't it basically just a frame lock with a G10 scale covering the outside of the lock bar?

I own both versions of the Military model -- frame lock and liner lock -- and really prefer the liner lock over the frame lock. It's funny that you mention Striders. I know that they have a large following, but I don't like them at all! Primarily because of the frame lock.

To me the PPT looks like it was designed almost along the same lines defensively as the Yojimbo 2. At least the blade shapes seem to have a vague resemblance to each other. Or maybe they just look that way to me?

I hope you get a lot of good mileage out of your new Spydie! Your collection is getting quite large!

Hi Ron.

I bought this one used at the fist sight it was like brand new but the it had lock rock.So I had to repair it. Basically I have taken it down and bend the liner (frame) more to the inside this has taken care of the lock rock issue but since more pressure is put on the detent ball the opening of the knife is not so smooth anymore. Besides of that you can still flick, drop open it with a little bit of extra action.  The ergos are nice but not the best grip for a large hand I have. If the knife was a little bit larger I would be happy. The blade is very functional also the finger cut outs making this knife perfect for work and also defensive use. Only thing I have to say or don't like is the false frame lock as a locking option because of this problem that is also famous for the old Strider lock face knives. I think all steel + titanium frame lock configuration where the lock face is nor heat treated or carbidized  will develop in some point this problem when the titanium or less harder steel of the lock wears down from the blade.
