I dont know that have seen more than one or two of these in ANY collection. Thank you for sharing them and together!
Thanks for your response, Mark!
That Tomahawk is especially nice -- And very unusual!
I would be honored if you would accept a cyber-handshake and an offer of friendship.
Cheers!
Im originally from Indiana, but lived in Michigan for about 6 years before moving to Florida. A friend of mine who loves to hunt told me about Olsens, and said they have always been his favorite hunting knife. I bought one at a show and fell in love with them. I have been collecting them ever since then. I have had a difficult time dating all of them, but from the info I have gathered most were made in Howard City. I know at least one of the folders and the dagger were not.
What a superb collection of Olsen's! I would love to hear how you became interested in collecting Olsen knives? Are you from Michigan originally? I hope I'm not being rude by asking? But, since I see you are in Florida, I am just trying to connect the dots to these particular knives. It's a spectacular assortment of knives from a relatively obscure company (nowadays) that went out of business sometime in the 80's, if I recall? Lee Olsen made great working knives and I envy your collection! Thanks for sharing it with us.
One final question. Do you happen to know how many of the knives in your collection were made in Howard City, MI. before 1970 when he (Lee Olsen) started contracting his work out to Solingen, Germany? Those are the ones that are worth a few coins!
Cheers, my friend! And, again, welcome to iKC!
