So far, Stephen, I'm liking this one.  I wasn't sure how a somple wooden handle would worl, but the metal ferrule and twist lock hold the blade very well.  I've got some lock-backs that don't lock as well as this does.

Not sure how much "Heavy" work one of these would do, but I believe that doing the job that it was designed for it should do it very well.  It weighs almost nothing, so you could throw it into a kit and it won't weigh you down.  Word of caution though.  With the hard wood handle, it may be succeptible to excessive moistire, causing swelling and possible problems there.  But for under $15.00 at the local sporting goods store, I think it's a good deal.  (Planning on getting another, just to keep around, after I modify this one.)

Hope to make it a good whittlin knife.  Saw a post on one of my carving sites about converting an Opinel and thought that I'd give it a try.

Never had an Opinel before and I'm actually impressed by the simplicity of the design.  Sharpened up nicely too.  (Mine is the #7 in carbon.)
