BTW, let me clarify my previous comment a little bit-- It was issued to the Air Force, only to those serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in WWII-- Would not make a lot of sense to be holding one in a winter setting except as a last resort weapon.
Jeremy, one heck of a nice gift !!-Patented in 1942, it was issued to the Air Force in WWII in 1944 as an Air Force Survival Knife--Part of the B-4 Emergency Bail Out Kit. Worth an easy $100 to a collector-- I even read where one guy sold Just the black protective sheath/guard for $100 to a guy who had searched for one for 3-4 years--Very cool, and as I said before, a very generous present !!
I like that!
Case XX???
It looks like a folding Bolo knife!
This was given to me by a new friend this summer, who found out I was a collector.
I like these but you sure do not see them often
