Thanks for the information.
It costs a little more, but have it insured for at least $550. This triggers a "signature required" before delivery. If something like that happens, they will just deliver the box unless a signature is required. Then you have a chance to inspect the box and reject it. Also if it's lost they can say it was delivered, the signature also keeps that from happening. They will try to get out of insuring the package, that signature will help hold them responsible.
I had a similar experience with Amazon. We ordered some items May 12th However the order was delivered but it was wrong so we got return authorization to return the items on May 16th . We did as Amazon said took it to a UPS store and returned it. the Return was received May 24th. Refund was issued. However it never showed up on our Credit Card Account as a refund. I filed with Bank Credit card to dispute the charge because I wasn't paying for something I returned. I finally saw an Amazon Advertisement on FB. I contacted them they sent a link and after going through 4 screens i was able to chat with a CS rep. It took her less than 5 minutes to get my refund. The next day it shwed in my account. But as you say it is a Hassle to get your money back.
I had a similar problem with Amazon. Fortunately nothing terribly expensive was lost, & Amazon replaced everything at no cost to me, though sometimes reporting the issue to Amazon was confusing -- not to mention the additional time & effort & waiting involved. Amazon never questioned my side of the story, much less contested it -- which only made me think they were quite well aware of the problem. This happened several times over a few months, maybe in late 2020/early 2021, then suddenly it just stopped.
Hopefully your USPS issues will suddenly just stop as well! Good luck, that's incredibly frustrating...
I agree with Andy, you've definitely got a good seller.
Dangit! I hate to see this happen to anyone. Good on the seller for the refund.
Yes J.J They delivered the empty box and then ebay said I received it according to the tracking number the carrier scaanned upon delivery. If it hadn't been for a good seller refunding my $$ I would have been stuck. I did file a claim with ebay and sent them a picture of the Box for the shipping charge. I also went to the local post office, they know Memphis has a lot of problems loosing mail, late deliveries and packages disappearing . Nothng they can do about it and you know the Government will do nothing. So I filled a claim with USPS doubt it will do any good. This is the second knife I have lost thanks to USPS in Memphis. I guess unless i cn get Fed X or UPS to deliver then I may as well not try to buy any more. sort of getting sick on USPS in Memphis.
Bummer.
And they actually sent along the empty box. That's insane.
