The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Bad Blood (Hallmark Cutlery) Spartan doing some heavy cutting of a box elder limb that came down in a storm two summers ago. The primary chopping (4" or more) was done with a 26" Craftsman axe. Everything else in this wood pile was cut up by the Spartan. It's a surprisingly capable knife -- not to mention comfortable & really good looking (mosaic pins)!

Great shot and glad to know even 2 years later it is performing well
Brad, yep, 1/4" stock. I've had it for a couple years now, & it's developed a couple spots of rust on the tang. Seems fairly common to have 8CR13 steel get these rust spots. I haven't really maintained it much, so it was likely bound to happen anyway -- & it's not really any worse than some of the AUS-8 blades I've had from Cold Steel.
But the handle ergonomics are quite good -- the scales are about a 1/4" each, & completely rounded off (except for the index finger groove, but I don't recall having any problems with that). I really liked doing all that work with this knife. Of course it would have been better with a longer blade, & the blade grind stops at a point too near the handle for a choil but too far to have that full control in close up cuts.
Hallmark knew they were going to have to come out with good but affordable designs in order to branch out into tactical knives, & they did pretty well with this one!
It looks very capable. 1/4" Blade stock?
