Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I wonder what kind of person can pay over a $1000.00 dollars for a pocket knife. I also wonder if they carry it or just put it in a safe never to see the light of day again,

Personally the most I have ever invested in a knife is around 300.00. I have it on display and look at it like it is a piece of art. The wife says it's just a knife but to me it's art.

I have a stag swayback jack in the shop having it embellished. I'll carry it on very special occasions. Ones where there is very little chance that I'll have to use it. I'll know it's there though.

I would love to own a Tony Bose custom. I even thought about selling off part of my collection to buy one. Deep down in my heart I know it will never happen. I love my collection. Every knife I own is special to me for one reason or another.

I wonder what it would be like just to hold a knife like that in my hand. I wonder if it would be enough. A friend of mine told me to just start saving. It sounded like a good idea until I had to pass up some really good deals on some very good looking knives. I finally gave in and admitted to myself that unless someone passes on and there wife thinks like mine does and sells off there collection at a flea market or a garage sale. There is very little chance that I'll ever own a top of the line custom knife.

I have to wonder though.

I don't know how I've done it, but I still have that boy's excitement when I'm getting knives! Or looking at knives.

$1,000 knife?

I saw a small boy, at the knife show, with his grandfather. The boy was looking through a bin of "bargin" knives. He got real excited and yelled out, loud enough to be heard, "It's only $2.00."

My daughter thought it was funny, but I told her that there was a time that she would have been just as happy finding one like that.

I don't know if he got the knife, or not. What I do know is that I want his excitement.

Cost of admission, $4.00. Finding "your" knife, PRICELESS.

Steve, I am like you.  I don't focus on one particular brand or pattern.  My knives are all over the board as for as brand or pattern or even price to a limited extent.  And yes I bought many of my knives just because they "hit" me.

If my favorite manufacturer made every variation of knife I like, maybe I would ne a snob. But, I like too many different styles from various makers. You have my astrological sign to thank for that. Gemini.

LOL Craig!

Dont have alot of rules but no snobs allowed LOL...Honestly guys we just dont have to community for it.  No matter how many new members we get, we tend to get folks that look around the site and you all, the members, make it such a warm and wonderful place to be that snobs wouldnt enjoy it LOL.

I love being a part of a community that is truly about the knives, no matter what they are.  Even Stanleys Junk knife found a loving home here

I guess I'm one of the weirdos! LOL! If I could afford a $1000 knife, I still don't think I'd buy it! I'm a peon at heat! LOL!

Lee, I think you nailed it.  We collect knives for the pleasure it gives us.  Whatever you like to collect and can afford, go for it.

I guess we all collect what we like and what we can afford. We are heading to Shepard Hills Cutlery In Missouri in the morning. Mom dad my sister and myself. (wife has to work) Its a family thing with us. Dad will go thru looking for sale items. Sister will be looking at tiny trappers. mini trappers and toothpicks. Me I'm going to look at them all. Wife says she loves the look on my face when I'm in there. Says I look like a starved kid in a candy store. lol. We all like different things but we find them in the same place. When we are done we will go eat and pull our finds out and lay them on the table to show them off. The people who work there will think we are crazy. That's ok though. We will be having fun.
