The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Since I have contracted EDC-OCD, I have bought a knife weekly. This blog should help me keep track of the incoming items starting 5/21/2013.
5/21/2013 - Today it is a Uncle Henry / Schrade+ / U.S.A. 144
This is a beauty, lightly used and well cared for. Polished the brass up a little.

Today's arrival is a 2009 Buck 110 purchase inspired by Ron Coopers lovely purchase earlier this month. I had been watching the knife he bought on eBay and decided to forego bidding because I had allotted my money to the 144UH in the above pictures. But seeing the 110 so soon afterwards, here, on this site, was more then I could bear. So I perused eBay for another and this one was the best of the lot.
Schrade U.S.A. 153UH - Near Mint condition. Even the stone hasn't been used. Very nice.
Corneta Wotan - from Cesar in Brazil. This is a beast of a knife, weighing in at 14.2 oz without the sheath, 6" blade and 11" over all. The Hollow ground 1/4" thick 52100 Ball Bearing steel blade(56-58 HRC) has a drop forged integral double guard that is very well formed and smoothly radiused into the ricasso. The Kraton handle is as non-slip as you can get. The ballistic nylon sheath is ambidextrous due to the hilt strap is on a pivoting rivet. I can see why the Brazilian Special Forces commissioned this design, It is fantastic. This knife is now in my Ready bag.

Good review Brad! Very interesting!
Brad, yes I am to. I really like it.
Ken,
I am sucker for that Black MOP. I like the cross hatch jigging on that bone also.
Well it looks as if another Trade with Cesar in Brazil has turned up on my doorstep. The trade details are my 1988 110, plus a new 110 sheath for a Corneta LockBack Hunter and a Zebu Single blade Jack knife.
First impression of the Lockback hunter was the sheath is not of the quality Buck provides. It uses thinner leather and does not prevent the knife shaking around in the sheath. The fit and finish have a couple of issues, the wood scales could have tighter tolerances(see rear of knife below). There was some glue seepage from the handle application that was on the inside of the knife, but it was easily removed.
Compared to the 110 I am sending Cesar below, You can see that the Corneta is longer in body and blade, but the frame of the Corneta is thinner. Unlike the Buck, the Corneta's bolsters are not Integral.
The above picture shows the Corneta blade is not centered, but that led me to see there was dried epoxy built up on the liner which was easily removed. The Blade is now centered.
The Zebu Single Blade Jack - Easy open Traditional style slipjoint, Inox Stainless blade, Stainless liners. Brass bolsters & Black composition scales. Large stout knife, a worker for sure. Strong back spring, snaps closed hard. Can see nothing wrong with this knife, except even with an easy open groove in the handle I would have liked a nail nick on the blade.
As soon as the new Buck sheath gets here, I will send it off with the 1988 110. Good trade, as far as I am concerned. Thanks Cesar.
